I hope it works out for him, but I'll be skeptical until I see him playing again
http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/story/1580267p-7774977c.html Williams eyes return to NBA By LUCIANA CHAVEZ, Staff Writer CHAPEL HILL -- Former Duke Blue Devil and Chicago Bull Jay Williams said Saturday that he is 85 percent recovered from the 2003 motorcycle accident that put a brutal stop to a promising NBA career. It's a temporary stop. "I have about 15 [percent] more to go, but I think sometime by midseason of next year I might be ready to go," Williams said after the World's Greatest All-Star Game at the Smith Center on Saturday. "I might be out here playing this [charity] game next year." The former college player of the year said he would love to be ready to go by that time but doesn't have a firm time frame in his head. He is cautious about rushing himself. Williams, who won a national title at Duke in 2001, has been working out and playing basketball. He was waived by the Bulls in February. Williams could have played on Saturday against the North Carolina all-stars but chose not to because of the risk. Asked what has kept him going through a difficult rehabilitation, Williams said being near Tobacco Road. "Just not being surrounded by friends and a lot of things like that," he said. "That can get distracting and down here I can stay focused." |

Good news, but the last 15% may or may not ever come back.

yeah, but we're talking about a guy that had his body broken in pieces. not a common "sport injury".
