The rookie hasn't played or practiced since suffering the injury in the preseason opener.

baby protocols. If there is swelling they will hold him out. There is ZERO reason to rush him out there.

I agree but I am concerned. He has been out for six days and he missed all of the summer league with an issue in the same knee.

I don't think it's a problem that is anything more than one requiring TIME to heal. If you hit the right spot hard enough then it's gonna need time. We have to be patient and they'll have some practice days this week to try and get Ntilikina some work. LONG season so no need to push.

how did he look when he played? I know its a small sample but he was as spry as a 19 year old. Especially as the FO have called this a rebuilding year there is just zero reason to push him to play through this.

Wouldn't be surprised if nerves had something to do with Frank colliding with Kanter. Ntilikina said in an interview, before the game, that he wasnt nervous at all about his first preseason game. He looked it. KP mentioned sensing that after talking to him.

Frank is a teenager who played in his home country. Its going to be more of an adjustment Im guessing than it was for KP. Porzingis was a bit more traveled, and he could use his size to dominate, at times.

Jack and Sessions are showing that they are good for a few minutes here and there, but it would be unwise to lean on them too much. Unless Frank can get to the rim enough to help the offense breathe, he shouldn't start.

This team has been through too many point guards over the last few years who were allergic to the rim. Believe its important for Frank to understand from day one that this is unacceptable if he wants to be the starting PG. If Frank cant do that, I hope he is moved to SG. D'Angelo Russell showed that you can have good court vision, but be better suited as a wing.

THJ is worrying me already. Watching him yell at his teammates while commiting all those TOs, bailout fouls, brought back memories. Still early though.

Taking it slow. I have ZERO problems with this. Knicks are rebuilding so why rush a 19 yr old back too soon?

Dumb hindsight question: why don't all player wear some type of padding on their knees to cushion the potential of bumping knees with someone?

Being cautious with Frank is definitely the smart approach. Being off the court entirely for 9 days for a different injury to the same knee that caused him to miss all of summer league is a concern.

My concern isn't why aren't we rushing him, but is he brittle? I mean, do we have Derrick Rose 2.0 - a player with talent that can't stay healthy.

Same with KP. This minor bumps - are they legit? Are we babying these guys cause they're young and they aren't playing for anything?

Or do we have guys made of glass, that can't play through a minor bump & some pain.

Look, some guys are just glass and can't play with pain. That is ok, but I think it's a legit concern.

Did you see big ass Kanter run full speed into Nitty's knee! The kid took a significant hit and it doesn't have to be anything more than that. There's no point to pushing him to hurry back. He's 19!!! Do we want to ruin him by rushing him or just take it slow and smart?

Here we have young guys on other teams missing entire seasons but we wanna bitch about our guys missing some games!

He looked a bit timid but played incredibly in his opener. Once he's feeling good and 100% he's gonnna improve us greatly on both sides of the ball. He's also not a super high speed hard chargin player so I'll bet he'll be pretty durable once he finds his groove. Like others have said he never really had an offseason. It's a pretty unique circumstance for a rookie to have not only played in a season much later than all NCAA players but ALSO making it through the whole French league playoffs until game 5 of the championship.

It doesn't have to be the Patrick Ewing volleyball knee pads, but wear something!
