Right now, I think KOQ and CLee are assets that can be flipped for future mid-to-late first rounder or early 2nd rounders. We need to find teams that can absorb their contracts that needs their services.

Here is the list of teams with cap space that can absorb KOQ's contract.

Denver, Memphis, Lakers, Atlanta, Brooklyn, Orlando, Indiana, Sacramento, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Dallas and Chicago.

Phoenix, Philadelphia, Dallas and Chicago.

CLee is a little harder. To expand his list we would need to take back some contract. So I am just concentrating on the 4 teams mentioned above.

On KOQ's list, only these teams can use his services..
Brooklyn, Bulls, Dallas, Lakers, Memphis, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Sacramento.

Hopefully these teams can make this happens for us.

Why would any of these teams trade a first?? The only playoff contender in the whole bunch is Memphis.

I feel like this question gets answered around December, along with any other potential assets that don't fit into our long term plans

I think KOQ is a good player. Remember he played his way into the rotation. Everyone (me included) wanted Willy but KOQ earned his rotation minutes. I expect more of the same. He's not a 4, he's a 5. Thats the only main issue with the Knicks. He's really got a good game, improves every year and is a great locker room guy.

I think he's going to command some money next offseason, and I think he will probably be worth it.

Why do we need to TRADE good 2 way players on decent contracts with lots of experience? Do we really need to become the next Philly? How long have they been playing the lotto game?

Good to see. But everybody's in shape nowadays. It's a multi-billion-dollar business. These guys know what's at stake.

I not only like to keep Lee n KOQ throughout the season .. I want both to be the Knicks Starter n Finisher of games ..
KOQ (Oakley) talent/skills in the paint are a natural PF in the NBA .. not a center.
Lee's veteran defensive-experience fits well as a backcourt mentor for rookies Frank n Dotson.

I like Hernangomez low post presence more than KP in the rotation, but the past two season of watching KOQ 2-way performance receiving spot minute and inconsistent playing-time when KOQ talent/skills are 5 to 10 steps more advance than KP n Hernangomez put together.

We need to trade them because we're in cap hell. I'd like to keep Lee in a perfect world, but we need young cheap talent now. Chances are Lee will be washed by the time we turn this ship around. As for KOQ, I'd prefer to keep him, but it's a numbers games. We have too many bigs. Tho KOQ is the only one to provide a consistent effort with interior D, he also has the most appealing deal
In a vacuum, I think I'd prefer trading Noah and Kanter. Maybe that changes after the season starts, but I'm pretty sure we're stuck with Noah. This reminds of those old Knicks teams that 30 undersized PFs on the roster. At least the guys we have now have the right size for C and PF.

Lee and KOQ have no value, the Knicks would have been traded them. They played very inconsistent on a lottery team

Melo n Rose called all the shots on their individual-offense, plus Melo n Rose never put 1% effort on defense or passing the ball to their teammates!

At this point, the Knicks could probably get a 2nd for O'Quinn at the deadline. This is a push/pull depending on what else is out there on the market at the time.

Lee is complicated because his Year 3 and Year 4 could look pretty ugly. The Knicks gave a 4 year deal to an older player who didn't do anything at an exceptional level. That being said, he didn't do anything as a horrible level either. They can likely give Lee away for an expiring bad contract that comes close to a match, if there is one out there. The best fit might be the Suns, who might send Brandon Knight plus an asset for Lee. Then the Knicks can stretch or buy Knight out. Depends on the asset though. Jackson and Booker might need a vet who can teach them how to defend better. Lee and his bad Year 3 and 4 might be worth more than having to buy out Knight and take the cap hit anyway.

Lee would likely need to go in a multiple team deal at the deadline. Knicks aren't getting a 1st round pick for him.

The most value at the deadline, strangely enough, might be Ron Baker.
