I don't know how much this has been discussed yet, but with the acquisition of Kanter in the Melo trade, we arguably have two of the BEST and youngest low post scoring BIGS in the NBA.

If you look at the offensive production (and efficiency) that Kanter had last year playing less than half the game coming of the bench (21mpg), it was astonishing -- 14pts, 7rbs with 55% shooting from the field. When you throw him the ball in the low block, he's not only a load for the defender because of his massive girth, but he also has agility and a wide array of low post moves you do not see in players his size. If he could ever play close to average defense, he is a beast on the block and unstoppable (and makes his free throws when fouled).

When Wily started getting more minutes towards the end of last season--playing about half a game--he produced similar numbers to Kanter given the same minutes with the same efficiency: 12pts, 9rbs on 53% FG%. Again, Wily surprised most of us with his low post game showing a great combination of agility and skill making moves and finishing at the rim. He is also one of the best passing BIGS in the NBA already. He will only improve in these areas as he grows.

The point is I don't know another team in the Association that has two young centers like this with such advanced and skilled low post games. This is a definite strength for our team that should be utilized and take some pressure off KP and THJ.

The only counter here is defense, obviously, but--again--if they can both improve and become adequate defenders, they are huge assets on the O--something that opposing coaches have to game plan for.

Something to look forward to...

Decent rebounding but neither can defend the rim. Our team doesn't fit the style our coach wants to play at all. Good news is the team is finally building some depth

Also posted this on the other Kanter thread...

Some of his stats seemed to improve dramatically with Westbrook...

Just saying.

I 100% agree with this. The Knicks have the best young frontline in basketball. Down the line we can enhance it by adding a rim protecting 4 th big for now will be one of Noah or

Now keep these guys together -- we need to keep an open mind about Beasley and Kanter-- let their play on our squad define them. Both worked awful hard this offseason-- I like that. I don't think we are a worse team without Anthony--other players will have to step up and take 4 th q shots. I still would like to make more moves -- maybe we can flip Mcdermoot or Kuz?

I agree we are getting kanter at the start of his prime. I think KP can be a really good rim protector with kanter or Willy on the floor. Let’s not forget OQuinn is a pretty good rim protector and he to seems to be in great shape. I can see OQuinn moving into the back up 4 spot with hard work.

I think the club needs to find a new home for Noah or ask him to be a coach. I love the guys spirit but man he is a real zero on offense other then passing and that he is hard not to like with his leadership. He simply is the least talented of the bunch. Maybe a playoff team will be willing to take him on if injuries play a factor for a playoff team

What would be our starting line up? And our core offense and core defense lineups?

I’m sure with the contract he has in place, Noah would just be fine with coaching for the balance.fscr is this is one of the poor deals Phil made and we will pay for it for 2 years. Let either Wily or Kantor have the job and he KP and Wily can rotate. OQuinn is now a traceable kuxury unless you choose to unload Kantorand Lee/Kuz etc for a legitimate 3 or backup 4.

Finding a new home for him with his contract probably is impossible. Hiring him as a coach Doesn't relieve the team of his salary on the cap. Not sure why he should e on the coaching staff. His contract is too long to stretch at ths point so maybe he can prove his worth this year as a leader and teammate. He didn't even do that last year so I think taking a wait and see approach s best.
