I wonder if ATL would be interested in taking Kanter for future pick(s). Suns could use him to.

We probably get that valuable 31 pick
We probably start Kanter with KP and Willy as 3 rd big
I think we can look at McDermott. Or flip him to a team looking for 3 point shooting. No long term commitment-- it's fine

I preferred a deal with Portland for Harkless but we didn't do that bad

i feel some were expecting way too much for him. Getting a late first would have been great but probably tough. We werent getting a young piece with all star potential. We got as good as we were gonna get. We also arent strapped with bad contracts

Let's not spin this as a great return on this trade. It absolutely is not. We got 30 cents on the dollar back, but we drove down his value and that's what happens.

The Knicks won't have a great team next year, but there's a lot of interesting talent on this team that's 25 and younger, and they should be playing in a wide open system where the best players will earn their playing time without having to sit behind overpaid vets. That alone will make them more fun to watch.

I still think there's a lot of upside to Kanter and even McDermott. McDermott has gotten up and down NBA playing time, but he was a National player of the year and one of the top 5 NCAA scorers of all time. He can shoot the rock and put up some points. Give him a chance!

Now they have to see if they can get rid of Lee and Noah- though I'm not in a rush there, cause I think those guys are actually good vets to have on a young team.
.

The Knicks can concentrate on BASKETBALL and not drama. That will be a breath of fresh air for a change. They can focus on development and building the roster from here.

What about the Wiz? Seem kind of thin after Gortat. Dont know what picks they could give up though. Havent had any first round picks for a few years, I believe.

On face value this trade stinks. It does nothing to make the Knicks a better BB team. The big guy can certainly score. That's it. We have Willy. We have KP. WE have Noah on a long deal. Makes no sense. Just a glut that puts presssure to take another deal for pennies on the dollar. The Knicks can literally never win a trade. I would have waited.

If we flip Kanter for a pick or a player that actually helps than great.

IMO waiting wouldnt have helped us get a big return. Like i mentioned before these teams arent looking at melo as a main guy he will be more of the third guy who provides scoring. These teams werent giving up major assets even if they had them

I was thinking about the Wiz. Was thinking about Otto Porter though as they don't have the cap space like ATL does just to take him. With Oubre already in their pipeline on the wing. Kanter could possibly secure a proven long term big man for them.

No 1st rounder is why we lost this trade. C'mon this wasn't the best trade available we just wanted him out the East...Crowder shumpert and Cavs slrst rounder would been better

And what makes you think they were trading Crowder?

I think the Franchise just wanted to get out from under the DRAMA. They did that and actually got some talent back. Not GREAT but hey it's over now and they can focus on BASKETBALL. The roster is actually pretty deep with serviceable talent.

I've said it before, but the Knicks have to grow their own stars!

Beecause Melo is who Cavs need somebody who can dominate while LeBron sits. Only reason trade didn't happen is because they have to wait until October 21 to trade him so yeah!!

agreed. Im not saying melo would of caused drama but just the situation would have been extremely weird. Look as a knick i would have loved to rip a team off and get a first rounder and a good young player but in reality that was never gonna happen. It was either this or take ryan andersons contract

Yup. Unless they show all the offers from all teams...we don't know what is the best deal. We got assets with great contracts.

Perry is not done. 2 more moves I can see coming. Hopefully, they are for draft picks

Isaiah Thomas? Cavs don't need Melo. Matter of fact, before Boston traded him, I wanted Crowder as the centerpiece for a Melo deal. All these offers for Melo are similar.
