Comments: Given the dearth of talent in the Eastern Conference, it seems the only things that could reasonably keep Porzingis out of the All-Star Game are an injury or if the Knicks are bad enough that they simply don't warrant a selection.

Frontcourt competition Jimmy Butler and Paul George are now in the Western Conference, and if the Knicks trade Carmelo Anthony, Porzingis will be the clear-cut No. 1 option in New York. In the nearly 600 minutes he played without Anthony and Derrick Rose last season, Porzingis averaged 21.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per 36 minutes with a usage percentage of 26.5. That's All-Star caliber productionhttp://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/20276838/2017-summer-forecast-first-all-stars

ESPN is high on him improving this year. They think he's more likely to be an all-star than Embiid, although they more-less predict both will make it this year. He should have a great opportunity in the east. Hopefully he embraces and takes advantage of it.

he should if he gets better. he might be a starter and voted in. his competition, besides LeBron, will be the greek freak ( who will get in) or Hayward ( iffy to be voted in).

Melo was an all-star too. It's a popularity contest that's meant to be entertaining not a serious event. I care much more about how much KP improves than about whether he makes an AS appearance due to East forwards being weak.

Good place for Porzingis to network, try to do some recruiting. I agree however that his game is more important.

the event itself may be for entertainment, but being an all star is more than just popularity. It most certainly means something.

Uggh--diva comments. I dont care KP all star. Let me see KP part of winning team. He will never be Bernard King and King(who lead Knicks to 2nd round by himself) If he can avg 18-20 ON BETTER than 50%(which for a 7-3 guy is important--get me 10 rebounds and 3-5 assits with 2 -3 blocks--then I say KP all star (and it should be a winning team)

If he avg 23 points but shoots 43% and avg 1-2 assits--who cares?

As you already predicted the Knicks will be a 25 win team at best with or without melo, this seems like a set-up.

No one really cares about the all-star thing, this is just off-season discussion and prediction. Similar to you predicting Willy will be better than KP, or whatever your thought of the day is.

I think it's reasonable to expect a healthy KP will most likely be All Star material. Just the natural progression of his physical maturity, increased role and sharper skills will be a huge boost for KP! It's amazing to me just how effective KP was being as weak and underdeveloped as he was his 1st 2 seasons.

KP have 104% to become all star this season
