For those old school guys out there, who was more of a naturally talented basketball player?

I watched an NBA documentary on Richardson the other day and man, was this guy good. 6'5", could pass with flair, dunk, and score at will. People said he was as good as Magic. Then he started doing blow and it was downhill.

If you had to pick a guy to build a team around, who would you choose? Marbury or Richardson, and why? (PS: I never saw Richardson play, wasn't alive)

Suger ray if stayed drug free could have developed into something we really don't know. At 6'5 he had the height. Players then were not cut like they are now. he had a big wingspan. By 25 he was really into drugs, so its hard to say. Marbs come out much earlier also.

Marbs is more like Ray Williams, Sugers back court mate. They were built the same. Ray had unlimited athletic potential, but was very erratic and never put it together. he had big legs, which gave him problems. 20 years ago players were not in the kind of shape they are today.

With Marbs-sugar comp, I don't think you really can.

I saw Michael Ray play - he was great. I'd compare him to a pre-injury Penny. With more defensive intensity and springiness to him, maybe some Pippen mixed in. He could have been all kinds of awesome, but since he wasn't, I'll go with Marbury.

belive it or not michael ray is a legend in France, where he spent many years playing for a couple of teams.

he was a tremendous player that could do everything he wanted, score, pass, defense. so versatile. he could catch fire in one second and then, drop 15 straight points in a few plays. disgusting to play against that guy.

I saw him score around 50 pts as he was playing I think for montpellier. he was 40 yrs old at that time. man, this guy was special.

Micheal Ray Richardson created match up problems that Marbury can't because of his combination of size and quickness, but as has been mentioned, he snorted his career away.
