Ewing.... easy. To win a title you have to get deep into the playoffs. Pat always came up short but he carried those teams and for 10 straight years the Knicks advanced to at least round 2 of the playoffs.

Ewing, without question.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

There is no question-Ewing. No player can win a champioship by himself but surround a good big with a shooter, a decent (need not be great) point guard, a defensive PF and you win. Why didn't Patrick? How often did he have a consistent shooter?

Well thats nice to know about ewing, but if your drafting, your not going to know what he's capable of.

I'm not sure what the average age is on this board, but i'm betting more then half of us are from the Ewing era.

But when you look at what the others have accomplish, you have to put that into prospective. Walt was one off the best pure pg's to ever play the game ( probably the smartest),

If you think both Walt and Ewing are going to be stars of approximately the same talent level, you take Ewing. Great centers are much harder to acquire, and have more impact on the game. A great center and a few guys play fundamentals well can win a championship. A great guard and some fundamentally sound big men won't get you past the first round a lot of the time.

Since we're picking out of college I'd go with Ewing. If we were picking with knowledge of how they ended up playing in the NBA I'd take Clyde.

Ewing and Walt on the same team would've won us at least 5 championships!

It's obviously Ewing but after that I'd pick Frazier, Marbury, Reed and then King. Gotta go with the PG's after Ewing. Reed would be too small in today's game plus I don't know how his team first play would mesh with the one on one, flash over substance, that today's game is all about.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

A pg can make anybody better on his team ( kidd, magic) a center (of Ewings caliber) can carry a team for so long .

The biggest knock on Ewing was that he didn't make any of the players around him better, he shouldered the burden, and was never really appreciated until now.

I would without a doubt take Patrick over any of those. Quality big men are hard to get.
