Carmelo Anthony and the Thunder "are officially circling each other" according to Bill Simmons of The Ringer.
Thunder assistant GM Troy Weaver was an assistant coach at Syracuse when he recruited Melo back in the day, but it's hard to imagine OKC putting together a package that would entice the Knicks. The Thunder would have to unload either Steven Adams or Enes Kanter to make a deal work, but a third team would probably have to be involved because New York would want picks or younger prospects on rookie-scale contracts. This is firmly in the rumor stage and the Rockets and Cavaliers are still considered the favorites to pull off a trade for Melo.

I don't think they gave up any of their picks ( which is expected to be in the bottom 5)

They have much more to offer than Houston. Abrines is a solid prospect, age 23. Jerami Grant offers a similar skillset to Harkless, and is 23. Improved as a shooter last year. Kanter is necessary to make salaries fit, but he's only 25, can score, and is on a year less than Anderson. Ferguson was this year's 1st round pick. And they have 2020 to offer, just like Houston.

We could do much worse than Kanter, Grant, Abrines, Ferguson, and 2020 first round for Melo.

They didn't because they can't.

Owe the next one to Minny (lottery protected)and then Orlando 2 years after that.

2022 is their first next tradable pick.

that would leave the bench thinner than tracing paper, and 3 player taking up 70% of your cap space

It's good to have other teams interested.

Doesn't matter if they can't make it happen, this team needs some positive headlines.

Which is why a young player like Ferguson is a must in a trade with OKC...they dont have any immediate 1st rounders to give but acquiring Ferguson adds an additional young player.

Would be great to have a front line of KP and Adams. Kind of like KP/Rolo. Adams would be a fan favorite in NY, a real character.

I rather send him to Thunder, that team would be able to compete with the Warriors. Plus they have more to offer. Finding a third team to take Kanter and we take Terrance Ferguson Im with it
John Starks is the greatest

That's not our problem. They will refill the bench with vets on minimal deals. Point is there is a deal to be had. I guess they can't trade us 2020 pick. So Kanter, Grant, Ferguson, and one of their minimum cap fillers would work once Ferguson is signed, plus 2018 2nd round pick. Straight up for Melo. I'll do it. They will still have Abrines, McDermott, Singler, Felton, Patterson, Collison etc off the bench. They are trying to regroup to make Westbrook and P George stick around, this is how you do it. Westbrook, Roberson, George, Melo, and Adams is a tough starting 5 that can be 2nd best in the west.

This works and gives them 2 vet bench players back -- their playoff rotation won't go far behind 8 players anyway.

Melo/L=Thomas/KOQ

Kanter/Ferguson/Abrines/Grant/McDermott

Thunder in on Melo!!! Would be a great fit..before PG
