Realize we could stand pat, but if we are determined to move Melo and the lousy Houston offers are all we are competing with...

Some filler could be added, but this works on trade checker and

Clev gets - Melo, L Aldridge, (chasson randle) and 2 rounders (1 NY, 1 SA)

SA gets - Kyrie

Phx gets - Love

NY gets - B.Knight, J. Dudley, TJ Warren

Allows us to move on from Melo and obtain TJ Warren and a temporary mentor for Frank. We keep Frank, 1st round picks and stay with youth movement. Not a great return but Warren has potential and can't see any other deal with Houston being better.

SA - happy to get rid of LA and obtain Kyrie

Phx - wants to get rid of Knight and picks up Love

Clev - if Kyrie wants out, they could land Melo and LA which would give them more versatility as LA can play 4/5, Melo 3/4 and LJ plays 2/3/4 pending the lineup. If they sign Rose they could start - Rose, Shump, LJ, Melo and L Aldridge.

You should aspire higher than an awful guard with 3 more years left on his deal.

I agree but would rather have B.Knight and Frank and our future #1s vs Kyrie (no Frank, lose 2 #1 picks) vs Ryan Anderson (loaded in front court). Of course the best move would probably be to stand pat and ride out the season with Melo... Just not sure the Knicks are really going to do that and think the Houston deal stinks!

Makes sense to me. While I want no part of Kyrie -- he doesn't defend or distribute, I think there is a team out there willing to give up a lot for him and maybe they give some of those assets to the Cavs and some to us and we unload Melo to Cleveland. At least I can dream.

Getting Kyrie on the Knicks is so predictable and repeating the same mistakes of the past 15 years. I want a true rebuild and I do not want Kyrie. Heck, Cleveland couldn't even win with Kyrie as their number two and with their number one being the best player in the world. Let's face it though...Kyrie is coming to NY. He is a north Jersey kid who wants to come back to the NY/NJ area

I don't understand why everyone is against getting Kyrie?? For the life of me please help me understand this.
1. Everyone wants to do a true rebuild. What the hell does that even mean? We've never done it before and fact of the matter is this league is completely different then its ever been. In order to do a complete rebuild the culture would have to change drastically. On top of the fact that with FA also being different, there is no way you would keep KP long enough to rebuild.
2. You can't say that we would be repeating the same mistakes from the last 15 years aka Melo and Marbury, because you're talking about getting a WORLD CHAMPION. And not just any, a young top 10 player in the league. That is not melo nor Marbs.
3. You guys want to bank on getting the lottery and drafting our new savior(s). We all know the ping pong ball has not fallen our way since Ewing, so I'm sorry if I don't want to bank on tanking. And I'm sorry but I know what we would be getting with Kyrie, have no clue about Frenchie. But I do know that they have talking about bringing in another pg since he was drafted. If he was that good I'm pretty sure they would be saying something different.
4. I'm a season ticket holder...i would actually like to get some of my money back this year!!!

kNYks342 - I think nobody is questioning his offensive talent or clutch play, it's just that we've stated we're committed to developing a young, unselfish team and Kyrie wants out to "be the man." We've had the last 5 years of Melo acting that way (although he never said it outright), iso ball, putting self first attitude, etc... and we're trying to get rid of him at pennies on the dollar. If Kyrie didn't have an expensive contract (possible supermax soon), if Kyrie played passable defense, if Kyrie wasn't going to cost us Frank and/or future picks, if Kyrie was leaving for any reason other then wanting to have his own team - I'd be more open to him. We also haven't yet established an accountable, unselfish and disciplined culture - I'd rather stick with young developing players that will likely listen to Hornacek (if Melo leaves) and keep out draft picks. Kyrie coming may also stiffle Hardaway Jr's development as we just signed him to an outrageous contract hoping he will step up and become a quality 2 guard. Basically, our team has many holes but I'm hopeful if we resist temptation to try things a different way then the last 15+ years...
