Seems like stating the obvious is sometimes necessary. At least now we have a record that makes sense.

For example, if I said we should not pay a premium and give trade restrictions for middle tier players, especially before the core team is established, would you agree or disagree?

Kylie is a good player but I would not give up picks for him. No picks unless you are certain you are competing for a championship and there is only 1 player that puts you over the top. We are not that team.

Kyrie is a phenomenal player and I would love him on the Knicks. That said, sign him in two years if you still feel that way. For Melo? Sure. Anyone on the roster not named KP or Nitilikina? Would love to keep Hernangomez also, if possible.

I was playfully giving Briggs a hard time. I wasn't actually upset with him.
Yeah I do agree with you on Kyrie. I wouldn't do the deal if we have to give up a pick unless it's like top 18 protected. That said, if we do get him, I'll be excited to watch him. There's a part of me that wants us to overpay for him just because it would be exciting to have him here, but I know it's a bad idea.

If it were Melo for Kyrie straight up, without a second hesitation I would pull that trigger. Assumably Cleveland signs Derrick Rose and they stay fine. Rose Smith Lebron Melo Love. Or Melo puts the ring in front of himself and DOMINATES the second unit.

Not sure what the other offers for Kyrie are.

Honestly, haven't looked at Kyrie's advanced stats yet. Had him on my fantasy squad last year and he put up lots of glory numbers. On name value alone I would do Melo for Kyrie. After that, got to delve deep to do anything.

But lets see.

Yep, in fact the only person who has been calling for us to trade draft picks these past 2 years has been BRIGGS

Yes, Briggs - this thread should be your MAN UP Thread where you admit you've been wrong several times on this board advocating for exactly what you call a sucker play.

Do we need to track down all the posts you made where you called for trading future first rounders, or can you confess?

We know little about Frank N. I think Draft Express or another reputable projector had him sinking at like 11 or 14. D Smith in Dallas may end being an explosive scorer and impact player. Kyrie could have very well been MVP of Finals when they won. So if they'd Drop Melo for a song and a pick, why not melo and say OQuinn or Lee and a pick?
Keep Frank If your so enamoured and Wily too but Kyrie can shoot that dagger in the 4th, and that only KP may be able to do prospectively. We need an offensive young assassin and it's Kyrie. Pull the trigger.

KP/Wily/Thjr/Frank/Kyrie/Dotson/

All 25 n under.

I believe the one positive in the Phil era was that we saw a culture change in how we look at young players.
Phil was high on drafting or bringing in players who were unproven, give them a big role, maybe unjustified even as they had not shown they deserved it.
I think with the success we've seen of those types of moves vs the "big" moves or the chase the veteran proven guy moves, we will continue with that.

It's why Mills is focused on 25 and under.
The team has had enough of the veteran guys who come here collect a huge paycheck and play half of what they were elsewhere or before they got signed.

Hope this contiues longterm but there has been change and trust in our process since Phil took over 2014.

Hernamgomez
Porzingis, Kuzminskas
Dotson
Hardaway
Ntilikina, Baker

All players 25 or younger, or 1-2 years into the league. We've got up to 7 players in the 10 man rotation next year who will be of those "draft picks" or "unproven" inexperienced category. I think we will surprise people how competitive and skilled this team will be next year around Melo or post-Melo trade.

This thread completes me.

Briggs is right of course. Eddy taught us that to possible to actually get worse. That ten actually enriches the team that made the trade. Eddy was damaged, we sucked, bulls were rewarded. We trade for Kylie and succeed it lessons the pick for CLEV, Kylie blows his leg out, it enhances the pick as we draft higher..

Yeah trading a lottery restrcited pick for Eric Bledsoe is "smart" way of using a pick. Im not trading a pick under any other circumstance unless the name of Durant or LBJ is on the other side. Kyrie Irving does not have the backround of a player (where we are) that can be vaulated into an unretcried pick-pure sucker play. He gets hurt--we win 26 games--Cavs get another player just as good and younger with our 3 pick.
