jees atlanta is actually 9.7mm under the cap. do they offer swift a 4 year 40mm? i think they should

I think they should too. It's a worthwhile gamble for a team that's not gonna attract a top of the line free agent anyway

It is surprising (to me atleast) that no team has even offered Swift anything.

only one team can sign him for more than the MLE--he likely wont sign an MLE because his current salary is 1mm$ above and in this market he should be able to command more money. He may take the 1 year 6mm and play out to UFA status.

i thought this post was actually ablout pryzbilla????????? i was actually hoping we could have found a way to get him. he is a good rebounding, shotblocking centre.
i still got my fingers crossed for either gadzuric or haywood somehow.

what would you guys think about a kurt thomas for booth straight up trade? i would do it.

PLUS
1) booth = bigger
2) booth way better shot blocker
3) booth shorter contract
4) should get basically the same numbers from booth as thomas in the same minutes.
5) booth younger
6) booth named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year for the 1997-98 season so i dont think he's as bad defencivly as alot of people think.

MINUS
1) booth wwwwwaaaaaayyyyyy uglier than thomas

just kidding. i do think booth would fit better than thomas. hell with our centres i might even start booth.

Booth for KT would be ok but only if they give up Pavel or a future first rounder also. They would still have Bradley and eschemeyer as backup C's and would seriously upgrade their depth at PF (Who is Dirk's backup?) Pavel signed this summer and can't be traded until Dec 15th, so it would have to be a midseason or deadline deal. he's a bigtime project and slipped on draft day, but we need size badly

I dont think we have any chance at Haywood. If the choice is between Thomas and Booth i would consider keeping Thomas only cause he has a shot from 10 to 15 whereas Booth has no shot to speak of.

I dont even want Haywood that guys a stiff.

Booth is a good shotblocker, but the Knicks lose that offensive element of KT's game. If Sweetney proves himself, I'm fine with a Sweetney/JYD PF rotation and then Booth playing C and giving the Knicks the interior D they need.

There were talks about signing Keon Clark, I wonder what happened.

I dunno... Haywood was awesome in college...
I think he might be a sleeper with his talents not being honed by a sub par team (Wizards)... Of course you have to wonder about heart... but I think we got the kinda system we will make most players really want to excel here... If we got Haywood this offseason.. This summer's progress would turn out to be leaps and bounds above my expectations at winter's end.. although it sorta already is with aquisitions of Crawford, Ariza, and JYD.
