Teams don't want Anderson and part of it might be because they know Morey wants Melo and teams are trying to rape him.
Might there be a GM or two that would not love to stick it to him for past victories? Perhaps.
With Rockets now up for sale it would not be a good thing for him to move future picks as one day soon CP3 will be on crutches and Melo even older.
How will he rebuild? Not my problem, but at some point it devalues the franchise and a new owner might not be so hip to this.

Could be Morey sticking it back to knicks? What if Rockets say "NO" or "We can't"?
Melo has let it be known he wants to be in Texas and can't pull the "Be with my family" card anymore.
He said he does not want to be a knick.
Does this open up the door to Portland? Any other team? If so, whom?

I think the most common misconception here is moving Melo's $26m salary is just VERY difficult in the NBA, regardless of all the background noise.

People are imagining if Melo allows himself to be put on the open market (which he has NO reason to do) that would open up multiple possibilities and create bidding situation.

That just isn't the case.

Good luck finding a trade with them. How big a Ian Mahinmi fan are you?

I think Morey gets the deal done. He is probably the smartest executive in the league. Also, Paul may walk if he doesn't get the deal done.

I think this is less rocket science and more remedial math than people realize.

Anderson or Ariza/Gordon have to go.

There is literally no other creative solution.

At that point its Melo's problem. Ride the bench or play a limited role. Pick another destination.

If Melo says it's Houston/Cleveland or else...or else what? If he wants to sit out the season and spend time with his kid so be it.

The whole premise of their wanting Melo is to be able to compete now. It would probably give their a 2-3 year window that's heavily front loaded in terms of how their talent level will decline. Morey is doing this intentionally and with full knowledge that once the decline sets in there's nothing that can be salvaged other than Harden's contract.

What happens if Rockets say no? We celebrate, b/c it means we have a front-office who won't be steamrolled, won't repeat the mistakes of the past (Ewing trade), and won't let a petulant player drive the bus. It's a winning situation for us if nothing happens.
The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

Won't say no to what?

Nobody is saying yes to Anderson.

October 27, 2012: James Harden traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder with Cole Aldrich, Daequan Cook and Lazar Hayward to the Houston Rockets for Jeremy Lamb, Kevin Martin, a 2013 1st round draft pick (Steven Adams was later selected), a 2013 2nd round draft pick (Alex Abrines was later selected) and a 2014 1st round draft pick (Mitch McGary was later selected).

Stupid happens.

I'll take Anderson but the price to take him on is going to be very steep.

What Melo and his camp really need to do is put it out there that he is willing to consider other teams, even if he isn't. He needs to put some pressure on these teams who he is serious about. Add some more demand, which should drive a resolution.

What deal that doesn't include Anderson, is what I'm asking.
