Everything about him looks awful in the games I watched him in--I dont see him playing much in the NBA if you cannot come close to competing in these games.

Not sure why we would care but he actually looked pretty decent to me in the Kings games I watched. He has a lot of work to do on his game but he looked like first round talent.

Justin Jackson actually looks really good in summer league. He's a team player. Like Jared Dudley. Very engaged player. Easily going be a rotation guy for them

He played much better today. His body language was very different. He wasnt hiding behind 3 point line--he played harder and smarter.

Justin is playing fine. He had one game where his shot wasn't falling. NBA 3 pointers are different

This is what SL is about. Players and teams learn and develop. That's the more important thing

Imo he'll be fine but we won't be hearing his name for a year or two and then we'll be reminded he's a NICE team player

I just watched him and he looked incredible. Briggs why do you say such knee-jerk things? Having a couple of bad summerleague games literally says nothing about a player's NBA upside. You know basketball, yet you say some very odd things.

He might have been told to camp out on the three point circle in one game, then told to do something else for another.
Sometimes coaches want to see certain things, and that might have been for the benefit of other players.
Briggs like many of us make judgements on what we see. Funny, the Dennis smith attempted dunk was on Justin Jackson who Smith smoked, but there was nobody there to bust his ass at the rim either!
This is summer league, which is rookiesm, undrafted and deleague guys trying to make themselves shine.
No doubt Smith has some incredible moves and will be able to score in the league. The question is can the kid do so and feed his team and enhance the system on the court. He'll be ok, and might be rook of the year based on stats. Question is at age 25, where will he be?

As for Justin Jax, I expect this kid to need a few years to get thick and used to the speed and power.

So much in sports is about confidence and finding comfort zones for yourself, where you come to terms with what you can and can't do, and what you HAVE to do to succeed.

Serious and competitive athletes and coaches understand this. You can expand that comfort zone through experience, practice, and improvement, but you have to find it in some degree or another.

Jackson is a guy who, from what I read, felt he wasn't ready to come out last year. He seems like an intelligent kid who is going to learn to adapt. He is not the greatest athlete in the world, but I see him as a guy who will carve out a role in the league.

As usual, though, we want to make snap judgments about players, as if we know how they'll be playing down the road, or what changes they will make to their game or their bodies to adapt to the NBA game.

Sometimes it is best to hold back final judgment. I don't see any issue with pointing out flaws or deficiencies in a guy's game, and speculating...that is what we do as fans, but this thread went a bit too far, and even the OP saw some change in Jackson's game shortly after this condemnation thread.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?
