Is Dotson signed?

“I feel I can knock down open 3s and definitely space out the floor, rebound and play defense,’’ Dotson said. “I’m not too sure about [my role], but I feel like I can put myself in a new position to get on the court and be a great teammate. But I feel like it’s a great position for anybody to be drafted and be in the NBA.”

Different players really. Dotson will be a very nice addition as a SG/SF. Baker is more of a PG/SG. Both should be great team role players.

That's the hope. KP, Ntilikina, Willy, and Timmy give us 4 starters/future starters age 25 and under. Baker and Dotson give us 2 future rotation players with any luck. 6 guys who should be keepers if developed.

they must start building some continuity. Its impossible to coach successfully at this level without. This gives Jeff a group of guys he knows and should be pretty comfy with. KP, Willy, KOQ, Lance, Kuz, Baker, Lee and Noah are all guys the coach can scheme with. Its just so hard to start from scratch every year. I like Jeff and I think his first 40 games probably determine his Knick career. I dont think he's got to be chasing first place but if the team is defending and playing hard but coming up short Jeff will be fine.

Does Dotson know how to lead a team from the point position?
Direct players where to go?
Organize the offense?

This is what Baker is most valuable for.

He is a pass first guard, who sets up the offense.
The team played well with him as starting PG to close the season.

Give him a chance as full time starter in a re-build year. If Frank plays exceptionally well, then you start Frank and bring Baker in off the bench.

People who are down on Baker are going to be very surprised by him and how he leads the team. If and when his shot starts falling he's the complete package.

If he;s able to give the team 8-10 points on a decent shooting clip (35% or better from 3 point land, 50% or better TS) then I'm estatic. For 4.5M$ you got a PG in a rebuild who is a team first guy, who passes the ball, runs the offense the right way, plays defense the right way.

He is basically Sasha with some actual PG skill and ability. Last year he couldn't make his outside shots. That's his weakness. He's a hard worker. I trust he will work on it. If he can become a 35% shooter from outside, he is smart enough to get 8-10 points, 4-5 assists, play good defense and be a leader. Perfect unselfish type of guy you want around young players. Won't infect them with a poor me first mentality like Rose did.
