Obviously its time to rethink the way the dream team is made up. Ive heard lots of ideas like we should just send college kids, or send the nba champs and those are both solid ideas. however i think what they should do is first get the team 2gether earlier. Now obviously the players need time to rest after the season ends but they shoud be practicing 2gether by at least eary july, i mean they need time to blend and grow together as a team which they are not given in the current system. i also think that instead of just sending the best AVAILABLE talent at each position, they shoud send about 3-4 stars and then put some role players and mb even some college kids who are used to the type of team concept that is played in international competitiom on the team.

my 2004 dream team (of available players after all of the pull outs):

starters-
sf T. Prince
pf T. Duncan
c M. Camby
sg A. Iverson
pg S. Marbury
bench-
B. Barry
C. Boozer
B. Jackson
B. Miller
S. Battier
J. Williams
J.J. Reddick

that is the TYPE of team i would look to send in the future if i were usa hoops. this team has more than enough stars to keep the U.S the most talented team but it also has guys who can shoot, defend, make clutch plays and do the little things that help you win. There would also be far less ego on a team like this making it easier to develop chemistry on the team. also this team has players that are more suited for international play such as barry, miller, battier etc...

thoughts?

Like most of the players you listed. I'd still want Shaq on the team.

Bobby Jackson has been injured all year. Is he actually healthy now?

I'd take Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton, Lebron James, or Michael Redd ahead of Jay Williams, Reddick, and Barry

Actually...I'm glad Steph got to go to the Olympics and all that, but his game doesn't seem to fit the international style of ball. I would probably take Steph out, move AI down to PG, and throw in a guy like Michael Redd.
