ive been reading over the past few days that it may be targeting ray allen next. now obviously the knicks dont have neone other than steph thatthey can offer. I actually think this deal could potentailly make a lot of sense 4 both sides. seattle has ronald murray who is a capable starter and we have jamal crawford who is a very good sg but as a pg he has a chance two b very specail. with his height combined with his quikness and if u paired that w/ allen's shooting and athletisism the knicks woud have the best backcourt in the game. and when u put allan houston in at the same time just try to imagine teams trying to guard that type of outside shooting ability. now dont get me wrong i am a very big marbury fan but i just think this deal could potentailly make the knicks a better TEAM.

knicks:
sf T. Thomas/ A. Houston P. Hardaway/ T. Ariza
pf K.Thomas/ J. Williams ?/ M. Sweetney?
c Nazr/V. Baker
sg R. Allen/A. Houston
pg J. Crawford/P. Hardaway

thoughts?

R Allen wants a max contract for many years. He has practically the same talents that Houston has, and I think NY can get more in return for Marbury.

I like Ray Allen a lot, but I wouldn't give up Marbury, Crawford, TT, or Sweetney for him

Well... I think Allen is awesome (he's the player we wish Houston was)... Any trade of Marbury would allow us to move Crawford to PG, his "most valuable" position. We'd have a chance to relive the big-backcourt theory, except both of our 6'5" guards would be excellent ball handlers and passers this time around.

Realistically, if Crawford turns out to be great and looks like he has some PG skills, it could make Marbury and his massive contract expendable--- I don't care what IT says *now*.

allen is not worth a max contract for many yrs, as he's peaked (or nearly), and will soon go downhill.

no need to have 2 houstons on the same team.

HUGE NEWS!!! Marbury has been traded for Allen...

...On draft night the Bucks, after picking him 4th, traded Stephon to the T-Wolves for Ray...

As far as a current trade goes, I wouldn't do it. I like our backcourt and wing players. I'd like to upgrade our frontline and I have a feeling that will be addressed next summer.

I think Stephon's skills are far more useful to this team than Ray Allen's. Id rather have Jamal and Stephon be combo guards, sometimes playing point sometimes shooting guard, and Alan be the main jump shooter of this team. There is no reason to think Alan, even with a knee injury, cant remain a great jump shooter. Ray Allen is great and all, but our backcourt is set. We just need a star-ish, athletic big man.

Ray Allen is an undervalued talent. He can handle like a point guard, defend, is unselfish, can hit the outside jumper... and is worth the max.. but I would be wary of how long his deal would be .. as well. I would love Allen on this team, but wouldn't want to part with anyone but Marbury, to do the deal.

Ray Allen isn't exactly known for his defense...i don't get where you got that from...he's a very good player, but not worth a max contract in my opinion.

Allan for Allen would be better.

Why would Seattle do that?
Comparable shooters, but Allan's
contract has just three more years
so they get a decent player and avoid
having to pay Ray Allen maximum moolah.

Seattle FANS would still be very upset
because Allan for Allen straight up is
NOT equal value owing to age and injuries.

So we throw them a bone like 3mil and a 1st
rd. draft pick (or a couple second rounders).

Can Seattle get more for Ray? Probably.
But they could do a lot worse, like getting
nothing except the vanished cap room he would have
represented four of the for the next seven seasons.

Allan, $3mil, and a first rounder should be what
Isiah is talking to Seattle about. Let them reject it.

No sense in not trying to convert Allan's contract into
Allen's contract. Sure it would be longer by 4 yrs and
we'd be down another first rd pick, but with Allen here,
the Knicks ain't picking in the lottery anytime soon.

Marbury and Allen in the backcourt with JC spelling at
both positions would be sick. Of course it can be argued
that the 1st rounder i'm dangling could be used to package
together a deal for a big man, in which case we'd have to
weigh the options again.

I would NOT trade Marbury for Allen.

It is the wrong message to send to the rest of the league.

As I thinkabout it more, Seattle would probably counteroffer
for Mike Sweetney AND Allan Houston and 3mil rather than take the
late first rounder cuz they need youth as well as a decent PF.

Zeke's first Offer: Allan + 1st rd pick + $3mil

Seattle Counteroffer: Allan + Sweetney + 1st rd pick + $3mil

Zeke's take it or leave it offer: Allan + Sweetney + $3mil

Seattle's "I have leverage here" final offer: Allan + Sweets + 2 2nd rd picks + $3mil

Zeke: Thanks but no thanks.

Sweetney is gonna be good.

If they want Marbury for Allen then I want Rashard Lewis in the deel and we give them Tim Thomas.

The deal would work like this:

Seattle gets:

Starbury & Tim Thomas

Knicks get:

Allen, Lewis, & Jerome James

trade works on checker

A better solution would be to let Ray Allen walk and avoid paying either player max dollars. If I had my choice, though, I'd much rather pay Ray Allen max dollars for the next five years than Allan Houston max dollars for the next three years.

How's about a Houston/KT for Allen/Potapenko swap? It works in realgm trade checker.

Ray Allen is sissy soft and plays no defense. Who needs that? The Knicks need people who have all around game, not just one dimensional types like Ray Allen or Allen Houston. I say no way for Marbury. Allen ain't good enough.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.
Marbury 4 Allen?
