the problem is the uSA coaches have bigger egos than the players.

we are fighting an absolute goliath tomorrow in spain --this team is MUCH better than Lithunia IMHO. they have size at all G positions and they all have skill+ their frontcourt is very very good.

obviously they can scout us easily by looking at our putrid game tapes.

what we *COULD* do is shock Spain by coming out with James at PG with Iversen Jeffersen Boozer and Duncan

reasons for change

A. Marbury cannnot defend the taller Spanish Gs and is 6-30 shooting in this tournament. James brings defense with size and athletiscm and can handle the ball as well as any PG. His size will hamper their ability to get good looks.

B The Spanish team is very physical, so i want Boozer over Odom at PF[although it is fair to say Odom has been the 2nd best playyer on the team]

C Stay with a unit. Play unit A[unless FT for 25 minutes

play unit B

Stoudemire
odom
marion
anthnoy
wade

as a speed unit--stay with this 10 man rotation

Yeah, it's always smart to change what you just did after you had your best win of the summer

Briggs, I don't disagree with the lineup suggestion, but I think it's too late in the game to change things. I think Marbury and Bron actually play together pretty well and hopefully Lebron can get minutes. I think Odom is extremely important to what this team does (when it does well). Hopefully Steph can step up...

I completely agree with your assessment of Larry Brown. That guy is a tool shed.

no offense, but whatever your lineup will be, if you don't make the threes, it is over before it even begun.

I think this makes a lot of sense and gives us a nice advantage, but I doubt it happens.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

you can't fault a coach like larry brown but you'd think they'd hire a coach with some international experience like donn nelson or mike d'antoni to be on the staff.

Lebron is still too raw and is not hitting his shots either.

The euros screen so well they shake themselves open.

me too...it makes sense, but Larry Brown won't sit down Marbury after he's been the one to do the most to change his style of play to fit the team's needs...i would like to see Lebron starting in place of Richard Jefferson though...RJ would play better on the 2nd unit w/the runners.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I like Lebron starting at pg. Marbury can come off the bench. It is all about matching up and executing plays with Spain. Anything less, USA is wheaties for their breakfast.
Knicks are happening and have a Unicorn.

It's a slap in the face to bench Marbury after changing his game for Larry. If Brown wanted to go with Lebron instead, I could see him subbing in Lebron for Steph early in the game, but to keep team chemistry good and not get anyone angry, I don't see him changing the starting lineup.

--this team is MUCH better than Lithunia IMHO.

O.K. I´m spanish and I don´t think that our national team is "MUCH BETTER" than Lithuania, we are bigger and stronger than the Lithuanians but we are slower and we have a lot of problems with the perimeter scoring, which is the main weapon for beating a team like the American, too. In any case i think that a spanish victory wouldn´t be a surprise at all. We have probably the best national team of our history:

F/C Pau Gasol, the best spanish player of the history
PF Jorge Garbajosa Good rebounder and shooter
F Carlos Jimenez He can´t shoot from the thhre line but on the other hand he plays an excellent defense an he´s a good rebounder too
G Juan Carlos Navarro "The Bomb", he´s a sort of spanish Allen Iverson.
G Jose Manuel Calderon I love this guy, he can do anything that a point-guard need, he could be in Milwaukee this next season.

G Rodrigo De La Fuente He´s like Jimenez
PF Felipe Reyes He´s too short but is a good rebounder
G Rudy Fernandez The youngest and the most talented player of this Team

Good Luck!!

Instead of still being alive for the gold, we'd probably be eliminated from the chance of winning *any* medal if we followed your plan and took Stephon out of the starting lineup

It's not hindsight; I disagreed with Briggs BEFORE the game. It's foresight that was subsequently confirmed.
