JYD says so

entertaining read. I hope we can clear a forward or two because this guy has a place on the team. A fast guy that can defend 3 positions... I think he will see more minutes than some think, and challenge guys like Baker, KT, Nazr, Penny (at the 3) to earn their time.

Anyone think he will be better than camby at providing energy off the bench?

It's hard to compare their energy. Both provide great energy. JYD will probably get more steals than Camby, but Camby will block more shots and score slightly more points

no.. Camby was much more of an impact player because of his length. camby is one of the best shot blockers in the league. Jerome is a good defender. He's a good dunker on backdoor plays and loose balls. Best thing you can say about his offense is he gets offensive boards.

I do think Jerome will push other guys in a positive sense and will lead by example and hustle.

i think Jerome will bring the same type of defensive intensity & energy that Chris Childs used to as a PG backing up Ward in '99 (obviously, in relative terms to his own position)...Camby was a verified 6th man of the year candidate the way he ended that season & performed in the postseason...i don't expect JYD to impact games on that level, but he will sure be a nice addition to this team that lacked so much heart & defensive intensity the past few years.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

With all the players ahead of him and the limited playing time that he'll receive I hope he can wave the crap out of a towel because that's the type of energy he'll be providing from the bench.

Oh I agree with all that. Camby was much more of an impact player, no doubt. I think they both bring huge energy though

Kind of like the role you gave Sweetney last season?

Who's ahead of him? Lenny will determine who gets the most playing time. The only person I'm giving minutes to is Sweetney because of what he represents. Everyone has to beat out the competition. Who's to say JYD isnt a better fit then Nazr, Baker and KT in the more uptempo speed ball guys like Crawford, TT and Marbury can thrive in? Was Nazr, KT or Vin so great that their minutes should already be allocated?

I guess Scott forgot what role he gave Sweetney last year. If I were him, I'd want to forget that mistake too

The way people talked up Nazr "The Key to the Deal" last year and Baker you'd think that they were better and deserved the minutes. KT is better than JYD. At the very least he can do something on the offensive end.

I could have sworn we actually WERE talking about the roles different frontcourt players should have, which would mean I was right on the topic for mentioning the role Sweetney has had and should have. Just because you have no bright response, doesn't mean it's changing the topic

Umm how is this on topic when none of us actually have control over what the Knicks players have actually done?

The sad part is that you probably think that this role playing is some ingenious way of getting to me. Eh whatever. Just do me a favor and stick to the topic, it would make things a lot easier.
