To keep up the pressure until Dolan makes a foolish move. Really can't stand the Media at this point. The Bias is absurd. If Dolan did fire Phil they'd jump right back on Dolan. They don't give a flip about the Knicks.

Yep, completely agree- they manufacture drama then blame the team for 'creating' the drama they just created and then using it as grounds for someone being fired! Phil doesn't talk to the media "oh he's a disgrace! He needs to talk! " Phil talks to the media "phil needs to shut up! "

Firing Phil after he's drafted and just a few days before free agency (and a few months after you've picked up the last 2 yrs on his deal) is just plain dumb. It means we're stuck with melo for 2 yrs and possibly more, and KP has learned that being a diva works.

All those begging for his firing without thinking what would happen next are in for a rude awakening.

Ruder than the worst record as an exec in 70 years?

Exactly. Those wanting to protect Jackson, a guy so far up his own backside that he's fallen out with just about everyone its possible to fall out with are the ones not putting the Knicks best interests first. Or at least considering the options. I have no confidence whatsoever in what he will do in free agency anyway. Maybe his departure will give us a much better chance of building a competitive ball club over the next couple of years, I can't see many of the elite FA's come anywhere near the Garden with him still there. He's managed to cause conflict in just about every key relationship within the Knicks, he's landed us with the atrocious Noah deal, he's landed us with the Melo NTC, he's fallen out with the best young player we have had in many many years, he barely attends road games etc etc. In short we can do a lot better especially for the money lavished on him. I don't believe we are going anywhere?under his 'leadership' and if thats the case why are we sticking by him.

What ELITE players were coming anyway??? This is the flawed logic of Fans that has kept this Franchise from building a proper team and culture. We NEVER let a Prez/GM finish what they started.
Phil finally has this team on a clear direction. We know exactly what kind of players he was bringing in and he did EXACTLY as he stated he would. Smart 2Way players that excel at Team Ball.

To change course right as things were being built is crazy.

Yeah. Rose was a fantastic "smart 2way player". Lmao. Jackson is taking us nowhere.

This is now sounding as if there is truth to it and could happen as soon as tomorrow morning. Jackson killed himself by giving Melo the no trade clause. It's going to be the catalyst for this separation as it's become clear there is no way to trade him for anything decent and we won't buy him out.

Shelburne covers Lakers...right? Maybe she's getting info from Phil's ex...?

She's claiming talks between Dolan and Jackson accelerated this week when it was decided the Knicks would NOT buy out Melo. That Jackson has made it known that the organization should move on from Melo but with no way positive way of doing that (due to the NTC Jackson himself gave him) and with no plans for Jackson to lead the organization beyond the remaining 2 years of his contract they had to decide how to proceed.

If this is true it sounds very much like Jackson's position has become untenable given the breakdown of relationships with Melo and probably KP too given it seems both are staying. What a complete ****show! Personally won't shed a tear for Jackson if he departs with his massive chest of $60 milly gold, he's been a huge disappointment as a leader.

Can the people happy about this honestly say they're pleased melo is sticking around for 2 yrs? All we had to do was suck for the next 2 years and add 2 more high lottery players via the draft.

Update From Woj..

The New York Knicks are planning to part ways with embattled President of Basketball Operations Phil Jackson later this morning, league sources told The Vertical.

Owner James Dolan has been weighing Jackson’s future role running the franchise and seriously considering his dismissal despite two years and $24 million-plus left on his contract, league sources told The Vertical.

Dolan and Jackson, 71, talked about the possibility of a parting on Tuesday, league sources told The Vertical.

The future of general manager Steve Mills is unclear, but he could transition the franchise through free agency.

Every chance we suck with Melo. It's entirely Jackson's fault we have failed to shift him. He gave him the NTC.

Maybe Le Bron will come to New York instead of heading to LA and sort us out. One can but dream. Lmao.

Some recent events that could have played a part in Jackson likely losing his job.

Jackson feuding with his two biggest stars.

A recent story about the Knicks being the worst destination in the league.

A recent story about how Cuban pulled a fast one on Phil with DSJ.

Phil openly talking about trading KP, best pick in 30 years.

Worst record in franchise history.

Cant blame Dolan for pulling the trigger on this one. God help us with Mills, hope he listens to Gaines.

if he goes, could it mean the contracts opt out is in play still? this would be even more odd timing to smoke the guy after picking up the remaining $.

In the 2017 Forbes NBA list the Knicks despite zero recent success, barely even a play off series to speak of we were valued as #1 and worth 3.3 billion. Paying off Jackson is inconsequential sums of money to Dolan and the franchise.

If we have Melo for 2 more years it's entirely Jackson's fault. He gave him the NTC and then failed to move him last season. Totally on Jackson. He also brought the disastrous Noah contract, allowed Rose to do what he wanted, fell out with our young prospective superstar, undermined the head coach, went awol for large periods of the season and presided over pathetic and abysmal regular season records. What happens now is anyone's guess but the reality is Jackson was an unmitigated failure.

Wojo hinting that Dolan may be reevaluating Phil's tenure???
