-Cavs offered Billups a 5 year deal to become president.
-Billups has stated twice that the Cavs need to trade Love for Carmelo Anthony
-Cavs tried to trade Love at the draft to get in the Butler/George mix but nobody wanted Love that they could work out a 3 team with to get the assets needed to land either of these players
-Lebron James may leave Cleveland in 2018 FA. So Cavs have one more year to make a run and aren't going to do so as constructed
-Love's contract runs into 19-20, while Melo's contract has a player option in 18-19.
-So if Lebron were to leave, Melo would be sure to follow allowing Cavs to go right in reset mode by dumping Melo's contract.
-Melo will get a 1 year shot to play in the finals which would be great for him and his brand. Then he can opt out and pick a team to play for maybe team up with Lebron again in LA.
At this stage we don't want Kevin Love though. So we would need to find another team, Cavs asking price was probably to high which is why teams weren't interested. Since they had to get enough assets to land Butler/George. But I think teams like Mia, Utah, Suns may bite.
Utah can offer up Favors, Diaw and their 2018 first rounder top 10 protected or something.
Suns have Chriss & TJ Warren
Mia can offer future draft picks.
On a side note. Looking at the Suns
I'm wondering if we can do a Noah, KOQ, Kuz for Knight and Tyson. Would save the Suns some money and maybe add some rotation players in KOQ & Kuz. Knight is 25 and at least his age gives some hope that he could better compared to Noah.
