Rick Carlisle leaves no doubt Mavs wanted Dennis Smith over Frank Ntilikina, saying there was "uproarious" applause when Knicks made pick.

Interest in Nitty was all a ruse by Cuban and the Mavs for Phil to draft him, so they can take Smith, whom they wanted all along. Phil fell for it...hook, line and sinker.

I can't imagine how confusing and chaotic the world must be for someone who genuinely believes the Knicks selected a draft based on who they thought the next team wanted.

Come on, ppl. For all the turmoil with Phil, KP and Melo, lets remember a pick wont be made because anoter team wanted the player. NY scouted this kid and were high on him. If the Mavs wanted Smith, congrats. We got our lan and he seems like a very intriguing prospect.

Let the Mavs laugh now. Lets hope we have the last laugh.

Knicks were tied to Frank well before Dallas rumors popped up. Whatever Dallas did is irrelevant...Phil got his guy regardless of popular opinion.

Yeah, I mean why don't teams let's ESPN do their job and makes their picks for them.

You really think the Knicks pick Ntilikina because Dallas expressed interest in him? That makes no sense.

Like when Stephen A Smith said we should've drafted Cauley-Stein or Winslow or Mudiay or Stanley Johnson instead of KP and was openly hoping Okafor dropped to us.

ESPN aint got **** to do with it...I watch a ton of College BB and can formulate my own opinion...On pure talent, Smith is right there with Ball and Fox IMO. I feel like we missed out on a talented prospect...

True...which is why he lasted until 8 and why Ball and Fox went ahead of him. He has question marks but so does Frank and other prospects available at 8. Smith, is an explosive lead guard who can score the ball and is a prototypical guard in today's NBA. When you are picking this low, pick the best prospect available...I felt Smith was the best available and he fills a need at pg...
