Storyline: Kristaps Porzingis Trade?

Charley Rosen: Despite his size, KP is relatively ineffective when playing the low post. He’s apt to get faked off his feet by smaller players in the paint. But his general attitude is the most troubling. KP and his brother have often complained about how poorly the Knicks treat their players. This undoubtedly has to do with the negative relationship that exists between Jackson and Carmelo Anthony. For sure, Melo’s in-house dissatisfactions have unduly influenced Porzingis.

Part of the problem is Melo is poisoning the pond.

Early on in KP's career here he's watched Fisher and Melo undermining the game plan from up top. He's watched Melo continue to do it after Fisher got canned and now he's starting to engage in the same behavior.

We need a total rebuild to this team to reset the culture.

Not just replacing a few lower level players.

Assets are liquid, replace KP, get equal value and lets start over.

Word around the street is that other NBA GMs think Phil is senile. That works to the Knicks advantage. They think it's all dysfunction and won't see KP's downside.

KP just might not fit at the end of the day for the Knicks as well. As good of a prospect as he is, there's always new prospects coming into the league and you can always flip for a better fit if you don't believe in the one you have.

This is false. He absolutely improved in many areas.

Phil wanted Kobe gone. In time, they worked it out. Phil takes his part of the blame in his books. I doubt haters read books much, but phil's books are full of him "failing" and taking blame for things. Its kind of part of the job.

I think if there is a trade, it might be for the good of the team, but if not the posture can bring people together. SAS type thinking that KP is trying to get phil fired seems a bit over the top. KP says the that the team does not have the mental make up for the triangle.
IS that not a snipe at Melo? Its all how you look at it. How about someone doing a story about that. Are Latvian's a bit racist in their blonde/blue eyed own way and is that KP saying the team did not have the mental ability really saying black players are not up to speed? See how journalistic slant can be construed if you bend stuff? Some of you are so gullible to this its kind of sad. Please reread that last paragraph so Im not misunderstood.

Booker and the 4 for KP, draft Tatum and Markkenan at the 8, sign a PG does make the team better.
KP has great promise but as we all know 7'3 guys are not that durable. Yao Ming had the talent to be on MT Rushmore. A long list of bigs have gone down in the history of nba before they hit prime. The great Bill Walton was a mix of Bill Russell mobility, also might be one of the great passers of any big man, and was kind of kool before he hit the broadcast booth on painkillers......but he had foot and then back problems to curtail what might have been an even more amazing career. In todays world they might have developed him an outside shot.

I love KP. Hate to give up on him or his promise. But also can't deny as a trade asset its to be considered. No need to demonize him.

one might even embrace the arrogance of Phil. The great ones are not universally liked. Do we not remember Danny Ainge is prick? Auerbach was an *******? Riley is a Dick? Pop is rude? Yes, Phil got arrogance of his 11 rings but not the cred as an executive. Sometimes the great ones whiff at first.

As for Melo poisoning KP, thats speculative but if true was stupid for KP to absorb, melo to dispense, and his brother to allow. No doubt the two year ride KP h as been on and global adoration is a head trip and financially rewarding but it all comes crashing down pretty fast when the potential is not fulfilled or injuries start and don't go away.
This kid hurts himself playing for his country and not 100% in camp will not be good for anyone. Maybe Longstreet was not retained because he and KP deviated from the plan last summer and he is not to be trusted? Say what you want, but in NBA a player is a $100million dollar asset and the owner of the contract wants to control that asset. Is that really a bad thing? How did KP's off season conditioning go? He was broken by January after a great start.

Not saying KP should be traded because he missed the meeting, but if its indicative of bigger issues then perhaps we'll need to keep an open mind.

I am a huge KP fan, but a Knicks fan first and Phils arrogance does not bother me. It is actually a necessary component to succeed.

Phil could of gotten equal assets for Kobe at the time he wanted Kobe gone too and who knows what would of happened. He could of won more, equal or less. It's a crap shoot.

Do we know a lot of these things for certain you are talking about with KP? No. But based on the information we have, we can definitely make some judgement about his current character and where his behavior is likely leading. And then based on those judgement, Knicks have to decide whether to make a move or not.

All we can do is make moves based on what we think is likely to happen. We could be correct in judging KP has all the bad signs for self implosion, trade him, then have him go on to win MVPs. We could decide we don't want to risk that and then have KP become an attitude problem and play poorly.

You never know but it's always worth it to keep your options open.

You do realize that the Draft is tonight and if he did trade KP it would be to ADD more talent right???
