it's very difficult to get anything close to a good big man and this guy has a real shot at being a good solid nBA player at 6-11--i mean he is built just like ratliff-but has smooth offensive moves. i watched him give oOkafor real trouble with his length and he showed IMPRESSIVE offensive skills in the SL. Go out and make a deal with the Lakers--give them 300,000 for his rights.

and by the way it's not good business to sign 2nd round picks to 1 or 2 year deals without a 3rd year option for bird rights. its chump change if you needed to waive anyone making less than 500,000--thats nothing.

finish off the offseason by swiping rodney white for 3 years 7.5mm and grabbing the rights to Douthit and sign him for 2 years with option for 3.

if we bring in those two players where we are now, I think it's a smart compliment to our offseason.

here is the espn scouting report with his numbers last year. remember providence plays a zone D and douthit is a 4th option in their particular o Ryan Gomes was their primary box player and their two guards shot a loit. Douthit was used more like a garbage man who anchored the zone D.

I watched Providence a lot last year and I have to agree with you Briggs, the kid definitely could turn into a solid player in this league. He does what is asked of him, plain and simple, and he doesn't need to be the focus of a team's offense to be effective. I would definitely love to give the kid a shot.

Lakers have 14 under contract (not including Medvedenko... is he a FA or still there?)

The shot blocking alone would make him a worthy gamble.

I hear that the dude has a real chance of ending up behind bars. If he stays free of trouble I expect IT to read your mind and make a pitch for him, he's done that before giving ppl like Leon Smith, Demarr and Eddie Griffin second chances.

no, he's already out of trouble. he got involved with credit card fraud back when he was a freshmen and from what I read--he was a naive small part of it. he has already received accelerated rehab--had to pay back the money they hooked him to 4.5 k-he has no record once he goes through a two year period.

He could definitely develop into the type of Center that we need, I really liked watching this kid play last year. Hopefully, Isiah gives him a shot.
