Just checking to see. Im not sure there's a star at 8 but I feel good that a multitude of players in rd 1 will be quality players.
No the one player adds too much quality
Yes we have many holes and 3 picks gives us much more latitude to fill them

No. Never trade down when you have the opportunity to draft a young star. Quality over quantity. Trade-downs very rarely work out. Drafting BPA does.

Im in this boat. Quantity you can get elsewhere. I bet Willy and Ron Baker are better than more picks at 20-26 so its a no for me. I would have done something like this in the Jordan Hill draft when I think we really needed an infusion of youth. We are very young. We need a blue chip player.

don't do it.

There are far more failures at multiple late picks than one early one, including with the Knicks, Celts and many others

If we trade down it should be just a smidge because we think our guy will still be there

I bet this blows up more times than it has worked for the team getting multiple lower picks.

Yeah, the opportunity to draft a #2 guy should be there at 8. It's all about drafting the right person. From 15-on, can't say the same thing for sure. Would rather use the 2nd round to find depth. There are Willy's and Ron Baker's out there every year in the 2nd round that can help with depth.

When u have Phil Jackson selecting draft picks .. having 3 first round picks will not help his poor selection.

can you name a bad pick from Phil in the first round? Just curious, I raised this the other day. I might be forgetting someone but he has a pretty good record

Id bet the cumulative value of picks in most drafts are superior to pick #8 For example in 2013 you couldve had Giannis #15 Dieng #20 and Gobert #26--the 8th pick that year was Pope from Detroit. Game changing draft versus ultimately a fringe starter.

Willy I agree but Ron Baker would be easy to beat.

Ronny Baker is 5 years older than theses guys. He was on the fringe of being cut--now hes an all star --Im rooting for him for sure--but my expectations are tempered.

Lol he really doesn't have a track record except porzingis. Gaines is well respected tho. The problem with trading down is you have no idea how any particular draft lines up until your minutes away from making a selection, outside of the top 2, who appear to be locked in. I'm definitely open to trading down, tho.

Who is this star that we're getting at #8? Frank Ntilikina?
We could have Diallo, OG and Hart instead.

We don't know who we'll get. I think there may be quite a bit of fluidity with picks 3-10 heading into draft. It would be one thing if we saw Diallo lace up during the season, but he's a question mark. He could be Kobe or he could be Felipe Lopez. Workouts will be key.

It would be interesting to see the metrics on this. That said, like half of the 3 all nba teams' players were picked 15 or later. I think you give yourself better odds with 3 picks than 1.

Portland and Utah may be willing to sell a pick without is having to trade down.

Eddie Griffith for Richard Jefferson, Collins and brandon Armstrong.... worked really well for the Nets

It depends on the depth of the draft Bonn. Many times--you'd probably say no way. This draft a bit different. Also Im not sure what we are doing with Carmelo. If hes going--I think IF available--Id take the 3 picks. After Fox--I dont view any PG with that much over the other for the next 3-4 taken. You can also be risky with one of the picks

Terence Ferguson, Justin Jackson, Diallo, Frank Jackson, Bacon are just some projected late first rounders i would take with Portland's 3 picks

Depends on wether or not the scouting dept feels strongly about who will be available, and their ability to contribute. Its the only part of the franchise right now that I would give the benefit of the doubt.
Would you be willing to trade pick #8 to Portland for 15-20-26?
