My idea of a stopgap player is a player that is cheap and experienced. Someone that can start but won't mind being benched for the better of the team. A mentor. A professional. A few guys in the list jump out at me....

so many former Knicks to go after!

My goodness PG is our biggest area of need - only Randle is under contract for next season.

And then we have Ron Baker.

Of that list - there are some things I like about Miloš Teodosić.

I could see Euro-Phil and the attractiveness of both the triangle/system ball and potential culture with so many Euro players.

But he is 30 years old - which sadly is young to Euro-Phil, and a problem with our roster already.

If Langston opted out, I would see about a reasonable deal for him. I thought he did well, though he might not be the mentor you're looking for.

I like George Hill. Having a good year and that may hurt his affordability. Ty Lawson would be a risk but he was pretty good before his issues with Denver.Think all the high tier stay and get most money.

Also keep in mind w all the flashy new rookie pgs joining league there will be some more vet castoffs

I've always liked Patty Mills.... he's just too short. He could start in this league but sacrificed for winning with San Antonio... I can't see them letting him go unless he wanted money.

Shaun Livingston is the obvious pick for us. Smooth mother****er, highly experienced. I'm sure he wants to stay in Golden State. He could no doubt start for us. He's smart enough to learn the triangle since the Golden State system is just as complicated. He'd have no problem stepping down as well if we needed him to.

Milos Teodosic is a wild card. He could come into the nba right now and start for us. He is 30... but we need a stopgap guy... He could come in and take his lumps until the point guard we draft(ed) is ready for the limelight.


Sergio Rodriguez has the inside track with both our star young guys in KP and Willy from being in the Spanish league. I think Sergio would be better suited for the triangle because of the way they play in Europe. He's 31 now but we just need a stopgap.

Tyler Ennis is a guy I wanted to draft a few years back. Not sure his confidence is there after being in one bad situation after the next as far as the depth chart. Worth taking a look if he wanted to get involved with us.

Trey Burke is a poor man's Patty Mills. I think he would excell with us, but he's too damn short.

Greivas Vasquez is a favorite of mine. Size, savy, can hit the jumper and pass. Has good size and can play off the bench or start.... but he has some weird health issues with his legs. He'd be cheap I tell you that.

Last but not least for me is Michael Carter-Williams... what the **** happened to this guy? Rookie of the year... now he's looking at being out the league this year. He's still young and in serious need of some Phil mind trick. He's going to be a huge risk reward guy. Might even be the first guy i call though.

Corey Joseph. It will require a trade but I think Toronto would be willing to do a salary dump with him (and DeMarre Carroll). He's perfectly suited for the triangle and is under contract for next year at only $7 million per. I'd roll ths dice on that especially since we should not overpay for free agents (years or money) until we have an established, seasoned core.

Everybody under 9 is a) retreads, b) I would not trust on a full time role, or c) untested on a full season basis...

I take my chances in the draft and throw him out there like a QB in the 1st round and we already know we are going to be 3-13...trial by fire....yes have a veteran hand....but not to start but on a reliever basis..
