He averaged 17.3 points 7 rebounds 5 assists 1.5 blocks 48%

If you want to find a player who will fit into a new defensive and passing culture for a reasonable sum--as in 8-10mm I dont see anyone in free agency even close.

Agreed. It's too bad he's not younger though.

Players like him at his age tend to go downhill after a good season or two.

Pass.

We need to find our own James Johnson, instead of overpaying someone else's.

James Johnson finally got himself into great shape that's why he's finally showing off his true skills.... he's stl a huge risk because we don't know What guy is going to show up in training camp..... I think Miami keeps him around. If not I'd love too have him.... but he's got to stay in shape.

Dion Waiters us another guy in the same boat. He was putting up 18 and almost 5 assist with 40+% from 3 45% from the field for like 25 games down the stretch. We talked about him in the thread alot his blog. Both guys would be great pick ups.... but they would have to be in shape and focused. I see Miami retaining both.

No we need to run a championship organization like Miami where they focus on culture. James Johnson just went into the right culture and was given opportunity and he thrived. If we cant have the same culture--than every single manager should be let go and find a people who can.

James Johnson just turned 30 with small usage on his body. A 4 year contact is perfect

Completely agree. This is the one thing that encourages me about this front office. They seem to have the ability to find these guys. Willy, Baker, Kuz, Holiday, and Randle are all under the radar guys they found who can be good rotation players.

In the situation this Knicks team is in, I'd rather let the Heat sign JAmes Johnson and try to pry Justice Winslow away from them.,

He was just in Toronto... played in the playoffs and everything. His conditioning is what took him over the top... plus this championship organization is also a lotto team that over paid quite a few mediocre players and pushed out it's greatest player ever....

I honestly couldn't tell if you were talking about the heat or the Knicks for a minute.

My point exactly. Anyway whatever. I agree with Nixluva anyway. Miami is probably going to retain Johnson and Waiters

Because at 30 years old he wants to come to a team that is rebuilding instead of a team that is contending.....

DeMarre Carroll and Marvin Williams all over again. Odds are he won't repeat this year's production over the course of four years. I wouldn't mind him, but not for money he's going to get and not for four years.

Money is a universal game changer.

I like what he brings--his defense toughness passing ball handling for size. Im thinking keep Hyle Oquinn as well. You cant have everyone who is 21. While we need an infusion of youth--sprinkle it in with vets that make sense--NOT Noah at 17mm???? This guy already plays the style of play we want.
