Totally unrelated to the video but I think that is the type of passing Phil is looking for. "move the ball, find the open man"
The algorithm gives and the algorithm takes away

It is why I've remained patient w Phil
Passing = wins Plus nicer to watch IMO Today's NBA we glorify contested shots. Why? Seems dumb even if dramatic Thanks for the post,Briggs (5)(5)

I was a Sixer fan back then and I have to say they were pretty good. The Lakers were as good especially when they had Majic and Nixion.
Watching the highlights of the celtics there were so many elements of triangle basketball. Movement without basketball is the key to any offens. |

No need for him to look at the Celtics for ideas, though those were great unselfish teams. EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Martin- if you can you should ask him to show you his Knicks Fan Certificate. I'll bet he won't show it to us. The grass seems to always be a bit greener on the other side for Briggs...if you get my drift. Not sure he's one of us. BigRedDog wrote:The 69' Knicks were right up there too I was born in 69 so I'd have a lot of trouble remembering that. The Lakers led by magic was a great full court team but these Celtics which featured not 1 + athlete is by far the best I've ever seen. I thought about the passing strictly for the Knicks because I have to assume that's where phil wants us to go. I'm just not sure well ever see that pure style of play again. Many teams base their offense on movement but with a high emphasis on 3 point shooting. The plus athletiscm is to possibly replicate two of the greatest nba players nj and Kobe I think when you're looking to enhance your team your looking in every area. But I think you're more likely to see this type of basketball at your local YMCA than the nba RIP Crushalot😞

I think you could make a case that the 2014-2017 Warriors are certainly up there. It looks like they're playing a different sport than the rest of the league sometimes.

and there were certainly earlier Celtics teams. Tommy Heinsohn often said they weren't allowed to have the ball hit the floor on made baskets by the other team. They were supposed to catch it and bring it out so they could run on made baskets. Running here meant running without the ball because as he would also say (as do many celts) a pass is faster than anyone dribbling. It's simple and it works but players need to do it

Bill Walton's Portland championship team was an unselfish group, too.

Phils mentor was Red Holzman. Some of you younger guys think Phil was the enemy as he and the bulls denied us over and over.
Phil and JVG played mind games, and Jeff Lost. Some think Phil invented the arrogant book selling persona. No, our beloved one was pretty healthy in his opinion even when humble......https://www.amazon.com/Red-Holzman/e/B000APHU7Q Phil was a Knick and it was a mistake to not build from within back in the day. We tried with Willis but it didn't work out. Funny thing is its as Phil that was the guy, not Willis. Debussure was a good guy, high character, but not the visionary. Bradley had higher ambitions beyond sports. I know some of you can't understand why many of us are devoted to phil. He is trying to promote ball movement, and there is no downside to that. Im a fan of Phil and rooting for his success. Warts and all. |
