I thought a lot about writing something like that. After all, as a fan I don't know much about basketball, actually. I tried to read about something about triangle, and it gave me headache. Well, I honestly are not good enough to say what system is best and which one we should draft. But still, I enjoy watching it, especially Knicks. Let me talk about myself a little bit. I live in Flushing, Queens. Like many ppl there, I am not a naive Americans. I am a Chinese. Yes, I love Lin, and I love KP as well.
So, why would I want to write something here? I don't do it lightly, as I think ppl should be very careful about anything they write, like they should be very careful about anything they say. I choose to write here, as ppl here really try to be rational, and I respect that, though I cannot agree with some of them. Now, I think ppl would want to find out, which side am I on? Am I Phil camp, or Melo camp? I don't want to divide ppl, instead I would ask do we want our team to be successful? I don't think we would have different answer. we all have the same answer for this question. This ****storm, the anger, everything, is very simple in nature. What Phil has said, no matter how bad the way he said it, is very clear. He said, we want to trade Melo, and response here, on ESPN , everywhere is very simple as well, they don't want him go. Yes, it is just that simple. Phil wants to trade Melo, and ppl do not want him go, so they try to push Phil away instead. NTC, subtweet, holding the ball, everything would be okay if Phil said he still wanted Melo to be here. But, can we truly blame them? In Melo fans' mind, Phil wasted his prime. Melo would be much better elsewhere, as they claims. And you know what, they are probably right. Yes, Melo plays no defense. Yes, Melo no longer runs and dunks like he was younger. Probably it is not system or fit or anything, it is just that, like everyone before him, Melo is older now. ppl understand, he is no longer that useful. Yes, probably we should trade him, but still, ppl feel bitter. And we turn this feeling into anger toward Phil. We try to find everything and anything he said or did to prove that he ruined our team. This, I have to say, cloud our mind. Ppl say we cannot rebuild in NY, and that is exactly why we cannot rebuild in NY. We just cannot let go our beloved heroes, not matter how old they are, or they deserve it or not. Sometimes, we are just loyal to a fault. Knicks, I have to say, is not a very successful team. Successful business, yes. Successful team, no. Ppl actually get used to it, and no longer care about it. We claim we are knicks fans, in fact we are fans of individual players. When we cannot be proud of our team, at least we can be proud of Melo, Lin or KP, right? This is the road we choose, This is the thing we invest our energies, emotions and money on. Players, not the team. This is what made us divided, used, and manipulated. NY media or media in general, are business. Every business need materials, just like a pizza shop needs flour to make pizza. And media, especially the sport one, need their materiel as well, and it is called inside information. They have to access something nobody can, or they would die. That is why someone like woj are so successful, and this is why he wrote a lot of stuff which is hateful to Knicks. Phil didn't pay his protection racket, and he has to take the consequence, nothing personal. I don't think woj, Marc Berman, Frank Isola, or anyone they are truly hate Knicks, as they have business to run and they have to have inside information to keep them alive. Nothing personal. Melo are more than willing to pay his protection racket, and thus he is always on their good side, but Phil is not. I read sport news to relax , and let myself get away from real world politics. But it is very sad here is a real world as well. I read a lot about KP skipped exit interview drama. everything comes from this tweet. Tweet was deleted or there was problem with the URL: Yes, everything we read comes to these short sentences, nothing more. Next day, Ian Begley didn't have any story coming but wrote the same thing again. Then NY media makes it like it is true. But they are very clever, as ppl they earn a lot usually are very clever. They would say who and who reported that, or just like woj. He wrote almost every sentence followed with "sources said". Why? If it is turned out to be untrue, it is not my responsibility. They KNOW it is probably not true, but they use it nonetheless because they have something to gain. The gain is they make someone to close down his shop because he refuses to pay the protection racket. Everyone said Charley Rosen must be a puppet and why are ppl so easy to assume NY media write anything true and honest? Again, because it fit their anger. I don't blame them, but I don't think they should do so. Melo knows it full well but why does he want to cooperate? He is not a bad person, but he is a businessman, and he has a lot to gain as well. Before looking at this, we go back a little bit. Why does he not like triangle? In some way, it is best system for him. It doesn't require him to run in full speed, it gives him space to score, and he is a deadly jump shooter. Actually he doesn't like to run pick and roll, as how many times we see he sets screens like Willy does? He doesn't like it because it hurts his PPG. Before calling him selfish, we should look at it that NBA is a business, and guy scores a lot earns a lot. Can we blame him that he wants to earns a lot? Sure team success is better but how about I give up my personal success and the team still lose? How about I pass up the chance to shoot but we still suck? Shot is money, and he is protecting his chance to shot. Media like him, and he doesn't like triangle, then two by two. Suddenly triangle must be ****. Ppl always said, Knicks players don't like triangle secretly, and I have to ask, who? I am just a fan, and I sure don't have any inside information, but look at the team. This group must like triangle , as they probably wouldn't have a better job elsewhere. This group probably like it because it hide their weakness and enhance their strength These are only one left. When NY media, woj or anyone tell me Knicks VET don't like the triangle, I just have to ask, who? is there anyone I missed? Why don't we check on the roster before we said "players don't like triangle" as it must be true. Here, I want to ask a question, why does NBA players dislike triangle? why? Sure it is not about W/L , players actually do not totally hate to lose a lot as we know the superstars on bad teams still get paid a lot, like Melo, or Cousins, or AD. It is an entertainment, and someone has to lose, just like WWF, and the show is still going on. I mean, I don't question superstars' desire to win, but if they truly want to win no matter what, 15 of them can take vet mins and join together and win every year. Right? There are two kinds of NBA players, star players and role players. Star players are those guys who can score a lot, especially in iso, or rebound a lot, or assist a lot. Role players are those guy are relatively flawed, as they can only shoot if left alone, or if run to a corner, or if run to somewhere no defenders nearby. Yes, it is exactly what triangle wants to do. This "equal opportunity offense" gives them chance to shine. They are no longer scrubs compared to star players, as right now they have the chance to be successful as well. Triangle actually, is very friendly to role players. But Media tell us NBA players don't want to play it. Why? It is simple, as Media don't need you, me or role players. They need inside information, as star players would give them. This is why, you do not have much to gain if you are on role players' good side, but you will have a lot awful to gain if you are on Lebron James' good side. Triangle is not being used not because it is not useful , not because it is outdated. It is not used, no matter at the past or now, simply because it hurt ppl earning. There are only about 100 poss per game. One shot more role players have is equal to one shot less star players can shoot, why do they like it? why? I think I already write too much for a new one, so I think I should stop. But it is my cp. Thanks for reading. I love you guys. =) We all love Knicks, right? |
