Looking forward to Rockets-Thunder matchup.

Atlanta included in this statement took me by surprise!!

The Spurs are in the playoffs for the 20th consecutive year, by far the longest active streak in the NBA. Atlanta is postseason-bound for the 10th straight season, followed by Memphis (7), the Clippers (6) and the Warriors and Rockets (5 each).

Seems strange that it was only three years ago that Sterling was ousted from Clippers. Didn't realize they had made playoffs three years in a row PRIOR!!
Can't imagine Cav's not making finals unless injuries.
Pisses me off Celts top seed and will have top 3 pick as well.
and of course no knicks!!

Looking forward to an intense Knick/Net playoff series one day! Conference finals! Rivalries are born when important games are played!

Would love to see early exits by Cavs, Clippers and Boston so as to drive Melo's return up.

A market with more teams for his services would always be welcome should Melo/Knicks decide to depart.

As much as I LOVE NBA basketball, the regular season was anti-climatic at best. There weren't many surprises (warriors are the best team on the planet) except for some great individual performances (like triple doubles which are nice but i'm not a big stats guy). I like watching young players/teams improve, competitive games and of course the X&Os. Now that the playoffs start, the intensity goes UP another level (it usually fades after the all star break) and now teams will be scouted and exposed for what they can do and NOT do. Here are my picks for the 1st rd...

FIRST ROUND
Celtics over Bulls in 6 (the bulls experience gives boston a tough challenge. the weakness for the celtics is their AWFUL rebounding and thats what chicago can exploit. however the bulls are a mess on offense with no spacing and too many egos)

Cavs over Pacers in 5 (normally i would say cavs would sweep but they have been sleepwalking the past few months. I expect them to wake up once they actually lose a game or two. Lebron vs PG13 should be fun to watch)

Raptors over Bucks in 7 (The bucks will have trouble making shots but Giannis will be fun to watch. The Bucks like to BLITZ the PNR. Trapping Lowry would be a mistake because hes just way to fast to contain)

Wizards over Hawks in 7 (this SHOULD be the most competitive series of the 1st rd. I don't think Atlanta is a "good" team but they play intelligent basketball - especially on the defensive side. Their coached has trained them well to succeed collectively as a team. However i still think the Wiz should prevail because they have more talent and they can RUN them off the court)

--------------------------------------

Warriors over Blazers in 5 (the warriors are the far superior team. I'll give one game to portland because of their explosive backcourt and KD working back to game shape)

Spurs over Grizz in 7 (i actually think this is a tough match up for the spurs. the grizz play the same style basically and they are well coached. the spurs win during the regular season because paying attention to details and great coaching. Problem is during the playoffs, that EDGE decreases because the other team does too. This spurs team doesnt have the talent of prior yrs but they should have enough to squeak by the grizz)

Rockets over OKC in 5 (this might be the most fun series of the 1st round. cant wait to see beverly vs russ. I think the rockets win because they have more explosive shooting, they will tire russ out and OKC talent isnt that good)

Jazz over Clippers in 7 (here is my "upset" pick. close series and i hope america gets to see how good Gobert actually is on defense. If the jazz can stay healthy (G.Hill and Favors are always hurt) then I think they can beat the clippers. The Jazz have been a good team for a few yrs now - they failed to succeed due to various injuries. Now they've added some playoff vets (Diaw, JJohnson) that can help them get to the next level. I think the window has closed for the clippers - problem is they know that too

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I think OKC has the more talented roster, but the problem with Westbrook dominating things so much is that the rest of the team atrophies a little as they've probably gotten used to not having to bring it every night. Still, I'm rooting for OKC over the Rockets- can't stand Harden, Morey or D'Antoni!

Yeah .. im going for OKC over the Harden's Rockets too .. its bad cause i been a Trevor Ariza fan since we draft him out of the 2nd round.

i believe the best intense first round series will be Pacers/Cavs in East and
Jazz/Clippers in West .. I'm hoping both series will go 6 intense games each

The Pacers gave-up a great battle all the way to the final seconds of the game vs Cavs in the first game of the series 108-109 Cavs win.

The Bucks Greek Freak stole the first win of the series from Raptors inside Toronto SMH @derozan

Toronto has a history of losing game 1s and Lowry has a history of struggling in the playoffs...... regardless Giannis dominated them and I don't think they have a answer for him defensively whereas all the bucks height made it really difficult for both lowry and derozan to drive

Milwaukee is just a bench away from being true contenders. I just hope OG anunoby falls to them. Then again they might even take a flyer on Harry Giles.

Edit:

They are missing Henson and Parker so really health is their real issue. You can throw in Middleton who is not 100% back either.

36yr old Iso Joe just won a playoffs game for the Jazz. Nice when a young team can have a reliable veteran Iso scorer in the playoffs.

If it was the Knicks we would have a UK thread on how we can trade Gobert away because the won a big game without him.

Just saying...

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

I didn't watch that game either, but yes, it looks like Lowry and DeRozen both pulled their usual disappearing act.

Lance played well in the Pacers-Cavs game- I do have a soft spot for him so it's nice to see him doing well.

I've only watched Knick games this season- watching the Cavs-Pacers game- wow, it's amazing how fast both teams play, the game has really sped up and we look so damn slow in comparison.
