I see 3 guys worth keeping and they all are front court players making them basically worthless. In this league you play 1 big at center, 1 SF at PF, and 3 guards. The Knicks 3 best longterm players all are Centers. You can't win when your best players are frontcourt players. This team has to shoot for 2020 to be competitive. We are stuck with Noah who is maybe the worst contract in the sport for the next 3 years, this team has zero chance until he is off the books. Knicks can't add anybody even halfway decent this offseason. This team needs to go for a top 3 pick next season. If we get lucky in this draft and get a true superstar Guard or wing in this draft, get the other next year maybe in 2019 we think about adding talent. If im the Knicks we are stuck with the Albatross in Noah we might as well absorb another contract like that in return for picks. Im so tired of losing but this is the only way we are getting out of this. Melo is finished even entertaining the idea of building a team with hum as a major piece is frickin stupid. Lose some and lose more, 2 more years of terrible play should give us a decent core of youth to build on.
I don't believe in the doomsday predictions. There are so many ways that you can build a Title Contender in the NBA. The Knicks are going to have several shots at drafting the talent they need from here on. If you're smart you can get talent anywhere in the draft.
Spurs 2013-14 ChampionsTim Duncan 1st Pick 1997
Manu Ginobili 57th Pick 1999
Tony Parker 28th Pick 2001
Kawhi Leonard 15th Pick 2011
So yes we're starting with Bigs but this team is at the very beginning of the process of trying to build a team but you have to start somewhere and right now this team starts with some of the young players we have now and hopefully some of the players we get this year in the draft and beyond.
