Nice but the guys we're playing right now in terms of a future are all backups on good teams. Maybe only Lance is the starter because he's becoming maybe a little like Bruce Bowen or someone like that who can just knock down shots from outside and then defend well on the other end. So you have KP and Lance but the rest while showing promise at young age they are all backups on a good team IMO.
I think our 3 starters moving forward are KP, Thomas and Lee. We need to find a better point guard than Rose who does what he can in terms of driving the ball but with better recognition of the open man (Ideally also has a 3 point shot which hurts Rose's impact). We need a frontcourt mate for Lance/KP. Willy has the potential to start longterm but I don't think in modern NBA the defense will work with KP at 4. We need to shift KP to starting 5, who can play some 4. Or do what we already are which is starting him at 5, but he switches all over the place. Need to find a 4 or 3 who is like Lance and can shift all over defensively.
Holiday, Randle, Baker, Kuz, O'Quinn all good bench players either already or in the making. Willy has potential to be like a Vucevic or a Kanter. Give you 12-14 points and a near double double off the bench. Quality 6th man.
Still lots to do, it begins with a Melo trade if that happens, then drafting well in the lottery, and making wise choices in free agency. Right now I'd pencil in 3 starters for next year's team with KP, Thomas and Lee. If we can find two new starters to work with them who are young, athletic and can grow with that unit moving forward, I'll be very happy. That would allow Willy, O'Quinn, Holiday, Randle, Baker, Kuz to all come off the bench and keep improving slowly within a system and make max impact in short bursts which is what their talent corresponds to.
NDour I do not see the deal with him, but maybe he will be better with time. I like his athleticism and he moves off the ball. However in the games he got PT he can't finish anything and fouls defensively. Lets see if Knicks can develop him, they do this well, but lets see. I'd bring him back for summer league and training camp but he must get a 3 point shot or improved play finishing around the rim.
