IF Kurt is moved in a Damp deal who should start at the 4? I'd go with Sweetney - unlimited potential, better defender. Baker is in shape and clean right now, but if he relapses it's less of a distraction if he's a bench guy. Plus the more minutes Sweetney gets the faster he will develop.

Sweetney should start at PF. Baker can get plenty of minutes as a backup at both PF and C

I really hope that Kurt is traded for another type of help (maybe for Damp at center or maybe for a young prospect) so that Sweetney gets his first taste of starting PF. He had a nice summer league and seems concentrated in making it to the next level in his evolution as a player. He may not be fully ready for the starting job but he is getting closer. His future in NY is as a starter so why not start the process now? It would be great.

Sweetney hands down. Hell, I'd say Sweets even if we kept KT, but it seems as tho Kurt would get the start in that case.

Sweets starting would mean decent PT allowing him to develop. However, even if he comes off the bench there's a good chance that he'll get burn when our bigs get into foul trouble.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I say Sweetney with Baker as his backup, because Vin did well in coming of the bench. Sorry Nazr fans Kurt should get the starting center though. I still cant believe we're going to go ahead and sign Vin, a third PF, when we so obviously need a center.

Not only that but also, I think Sweetney's style of play is a lot more effective to our team when he comes of the bench. With that said, I like Sweets future and wouldn't have a problem seeing him start over our other 4's.

usually it goes by proving your ready, not being thrown in there and proving u need more time. i remember sweetney started one game and got caught with 2 early fouls and did nothing. i really think sweetney is overhyped in this forum.

What center besides Dampier is available? Joe Pryzbilla?

I don't think it's debatable: Sweetney.

I don't think it matters too much as long as Sweetney gets starter-type minutes. I'll have no problems if he starts the season coming off the bench--- it'll give him a chance to conquer the other team's bench players and take on tired starters.

If Baker (6'11") plays the way he did at the start of last season, I'd take him at center over about half of the starting centers in the league

Then the issue isn't Sweetney or Baker, it's Baker or KT or Nazr. I would have no problem with a frontline of Sweetney, Baker, and TT. I really think it's time, however, to trade KT before the season starts.

I would like to see KT dealt as well. Is Troy Murphy available from Golden State? He was coming on as an all-around player until he got hurt. He can rebound but also shoot the ball. We might be trying to get the wrong guy from Golden State. Forget Dampier, get Murphy.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

The issue is defense at the center position....We have none. Baker would be good offensively and Nazr would be good at rebounding and a few putbacks but none can play defense. So I like the idea of ..incase we don't get Dampier start Kurt at center.
