the celtics replace F jurmaine Jones for Marcus Banks and keep their second round pick

Trade looks like this now

Chris Mihm Jurmaine Jones to LAL LAL 2005 #1 pick lotto protected Gary Payton and Rick Fox to Boston.

So does this mean Payton will not play for them? What's the deal. Didnt Payton say he was gonna play for them a few days ago?

Payton is still gonna play for the Celts, the only difference is that Banks is replaced by jumaine jones and the celtics also get to keep their 2nd round pick. Very good news for Boston, they basically gave up nothing in this deal and they got an all-star PG in return. Payton will play well this year, he just didn't fit in the triangle.

I think Gary Payton is just a little better than Moochie Norris. It makes more sense now for the Celtics, but everybody saw how "done" Payton was in the playoffs. Or maybe he'll suprise me and pull a Sprewell and have a good year

its also possible that boston could use those ending contracts plus the LAL pick to get Rahim.

something like payton fox and LAL#1 for rahim

I am sure you would take take that crazy trade, May I ask, what do we need with banks? and Rick fox? the first round pick could be trade bait, but I don't understand a move like this...

I am pretty sure he is talking about his level of play after last year. I still think Payton is lot better than Moochie.

Marcus Banks has hardly scratched the surface. He's athletic 23 years old and extremely quick. He could easily become a valuable back up PG if we are indeed rebuilding. 1st round pick speaks for itself it has many values and rick fox is an ending contract. How much more could you get????

Banks is younger, and a better value for the money, than Kurt. As a result, if the Knicks didn't keep him, he is a more marketable asset to be used in a trade to fill a need than Kurt. Fox has an expiring contract.

there comes a point where you can either get the value out of kT by trading him, OR if you think he is a prime component in winning a championship--keeping him. The Knicks are different than most clubs because the playoffs are their goal and KT may be important for the Knicks this year to make the playoffs. I would rather get younger and more athletic with some nice new assets.

by the way for those couple who compared gary payton to moochie norris you are not knick fans you are schills.

i agree briggs. although kurt can help us, i think we're better off trading him for an expiring deal and a draft pick (more than anything) and opening that spot up for sweetney. i think kurt is a GREAT 6th man for a championship contender, but unfortunately, he's not a 6th man here YET nor are we championship contender YET.

KT is worth way more then Banks who is horrible, he showed nothing last year, and was beyond horrible in the summer league, Fox, who is done, and a laker 1st round pick which will be a very late 1st round pick. And what do we need Banks for? We have Marbury and Craw who both can play the point. At best we will need a backup in 2 years when Houston is over and Craw starts at SG. This trade makes absolutley no sense. Just cause you want to trade KT, who btw if we don't get Dampier is out best C, doesnt mean you get crap in return. I'm gald you are not our GM BRIGGS, we'd be about as good as the Hawks right now with you runnin the show.

this is still the season for unusual negotiations. and for what is to be said about gp not showing ?... as reported on another site, gp may not be happy playing for the celtics having to move his family.
