Let's say NYK doesn't move Moochie as part of a deal to get Damp - would NYK waive Moochie to make a roster space for DerMarr Johnson or some other young talented player?

If they didn't want Moochie on the active roster, their first option would probably be to put him on the IR before waiving him.

waiving a player with a multi-year deal that is sorta significant doesn't make sense unless you are cash-strapped. It's almost better to keep the player until his contract is up.

I think they will hold onto Moochie unless someone not on the roster really impresses them. Mooshies deal will expire (assuming the Knicks dont' pick up the option) in the same year as Penny, TT and Nazr's contracts, giving the Knicks a big chunk of releif and trading chips.

I think the total is almost $40M.

Good points. I guess DerMarr is SOL. Seriously though, hopefully the guy lands with a good team is Moochie isn't traded. Anyone heard any LEGIT stuff about Damp lately?

to me Dampier is obviously waiting for *something*

I dont see him signing w/ the Hawks for a long term deal. Harrington and Walker are nice additions but that team has no backcourt and isnt exactly a hotbed.

I havent heard of any other offers unless he's waiting for Indy to offer GS a better sign and trade.

It looks like a losing situation or the MLE as of right now.

My guess is they'd rather use Moochie's expiring contract in 11 months than waive him.

Yea unless a team like Indiana or Memphis ups their offer it looks like he will have to choose between taking the MLE or going to Atlanta. I don't think he is sold on Atlanta so we still have a decent shot unless a surprise team like Dallas comes in and makes a sign and trade. As for Moochie, if we can include him in a trade, good, if not we just keep him. He isn't that bad of a player.

I don't care what happens to Moochie as long as he doesn't play. The more minutes he plays, the less our chances are of winning games!

PG-Marbury,Crawford,Penny
SG-Houston,Crawford,(Ariza),Penny,Anderson
SF-TT,Dermarr,Penny,JYD,Anderson
PF-KT,Sweetney,JYD,Baker
C-Nazr,Baker

There's no room for Mooch on the active roster. And besides, he serves more use on the bench as a cheerleader than he does on the floor!

Moochie will have a buddy in Shandon at the end of the bench. He will be ok.

you might not be big moochie fans- but he is our only true point guard behind Marbury

Yes- it might be a stretch to call Moochie a pg- but lets say Marbury is hurt for a stretch and Houston is still limited playing time, who do you play as your PG for a stretch of games.

Yes, Crawford, but I think Craw is going to better serve this team at the 2. Penny wouldn't be bad, but he'd get exposed over a week or two if he had to play PG.

Moochie right now is insurance that we hope we never have to use, and I'm sure if he is still on the roster, he'll be out with some fake ailment on the IR...

I'd rather have Jamal or Penny (or maybe even Ariza if he develops nicely) play PG before I gave minutes to Moochie.
