Ha! Didn't see those 2 guys before me cuz I was writing. If I had read those before I wouldn't have even bothered responding to this thread. Hawks or Knicks. End of story.

who cares if im slightly of. he has what amounts to the back end of an MLE--thats a very reasonable $

the bottom line is a deal of stackhouse and thr atlanta#1 pick is better than any trade we can come up with. if stackhouse went to Charlotte for drobnjak and thr trade exmptions went to GS with a number 1 pick -we have nothing light years near that. We do have the MLE but the more I read the more I believe that the demand for Dampier is great enough that trading for the trade exemptions could be a realistic scenario in an S+T with GS.

They could also give GS Laetner 3MM$ and a number 1 pick from Atlanta for Dampier. We have no ending contracts no picks to compete with something like this. Everything I have read Dallas wants Dampier and I think they have the inside tract on different deals.

You completely made something up and you were called on it. Enough already. Give it up. The more you talk about it the worse you make yourself look.

eds....in Briggs defense he was stating his opinion, not saying it was in the works or imminent....just a possibility.

this might be OT considering the recent talk...

http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=12686379&BRD=1698&PAG=461&dept_id=21848&rfi=6

According to a league source, the Cavaliers have targeted Iakovos Jake Tsakalidis to be their backup center behind starter Zydrunas Ilgauskas.
The 7-foot-2, 285-pounder is a restricted free agent. The Grizzlies hold his rights, but would like to use him and power forward Stromile Swift, another restricted free agent, in a sign-and-trade with Golden State for Dampier.

Fair point Andrew, and I did acknowledge that it is POSSIBLE in one of my responses, but like I was explaining, Atlanta or New York is REALISTIC. It's silly for a guy to keep explaining why he thinks Damp will go someplace when he completely made it up and numerous people are explaining things contrary to his post and previous posts. BTW - Are you the same Andrew Martin that wrestles in the WWE as "Test"? If so, you're the man! You're girlfriend is hotter than a forest fire!

Haven't the Grizz already told GS they can't have Swift for Damp? And Cavs might want to look someplace else. Grizz can match any offer to Tsakalidas and most Cavs can offer is the MLE.

how does Dal have a trade exception? They took back equal salary in Henderson and Terry.

Also Dallas just traded for Booth in a move thats a roster balance. They now have Bradley and Booth, two excellent shot blockers to play the 5. Not bad when you look at the rest of the roster.

I do agree that Dampier is worth more then the MLE, and Mem easily has the best pieces. I would have thought they would have done something already. The Brian Cardinal signing just makes me shake my head.

Briggs, its a realistic trade possibility except for two things:

1) Mullin has said he won't trade Damps to any team in the West. This rules out Memphis, LA and Dallas.

2) GSW is stacked at the 2/3, so there's no way they'd take Stack just to get that pick. If they got Josh Howard MAYBE Mullin would do it, but then Dallas would never give up Josh, now would they?

I think that Damps is hoping and praying Isiah can swing a sign and trade and that Isiah is trying to find some team in the league who take Kurt for either a trade exception or cap room or anything to facilitate a three way.

And Briggs nails it.

He also nailed Igoudala and Kaman, and I believe Dwayne Wade. What else has he predicted?

Briggs, seriously, where's your crystal ball?

Briggs follows basketball the way some us follow baseball or football. When you are familiar with the available talent, and the needs team have, educated guesses often turn out to be correct.

Some of us predicted the A-Rod for Soriano trade last November. Same thing.

I'd like to add that Briggs predicted Amare would be the steal of the draft two years ago, and he was on target.

ALL PRAISE THE BRIGGY.

Mullin came out looking good on this one. Naharawhatever is a good piece, L8ner is expiring deal, and he got two no.1 picks.

He was blasted earlier in some posts, but patience by all worked for a good deal. His agent did good also.

I don't believe we were all that close. ALL things equal, if Damp was screwed to have to play for the MLE, IM sure he would not mind the NY experience. But he is with a contender, althought one that is rebuilding.

Praise briggs ? come on, if you post 1000 trade proposals and change your mind 10 times a day, the law of averages tells us that you're bound to be true one day.

Praise Mullin ? Come on, that guy was playing poker with four aces in his hand. Even he couldn't wreck that.

he was also very confident that Dampier would sign w/the Knicks for the MLE about a month ago.

Good call Briggs. This guy is one of the best posters here because he knows his hoops and generates good discussion. He kicks out a lot of ideas.. some great, some are pretty whacked. Sometimes he's wrong, other times he nails. Either way when Briggs talks about a player I pay closer attention to that player and thats the biggest compliment I can give him.

Some of the guys Briggs has loved...
Shareef (remember the weekly get Reef post? Still think he's softer than an overcooked spud)
Amare (nailed it... stud)
Mihm (stiff)
Wade (stud)
James Lang (flopped)
Sweetney (the Knicks MUST draft Mike Sweetney.. this was in midseason) Good call
Rapheal Araujo (jury's out bigtime... Briggs loved him, people killed this pick)

When it gets really slow we could write the highs and lows of Brigg's predictions. Dampier being at the top...

good job on this one kid
