I'm wondering where he will play. Any ideas on that? Or why? Didnt the use their MLE to resign Marquis Daniels? Or is Dampier going to play for the veterans minimum out of the goodness of his heart. OR will GS sign and trade him... but who are they giving up? Shawn Bradley?

Stack to a team that has J. Richardson and Mickael Pietrus puts alot of redundancy at the SG spot for them.

As long as we're willing to take on Eschmeyer i still see us being the front runners from Dampier. We have good players available with Thomas and Mohammed its just a matter of finding a 3rd team or getting Golden State to finally cave. I'm pretty sure they're still mulling all the offers we have and haven't turned down anything yet.

Actually the more I think about it, it doesn't make sense for GS. It would be a really nice fit for Dallas though.

GS also just signed Cheaney...also another SG. The trade would add $7M in salary for next year and I think that GS is trying to position themselves for signing a couple FAs next season with their space.

IMO GS won't do a sign and trade unless....

1. They get back zero or very little salary for the 2005-2006 season.
2. They get a rediculously high lottery draft pick.

Otherwise I think they would rather give him up for nothing. Atlanta or a the Mid level to some team is what I think will really happen.

What does Stackhouse do for GS? They have Petrius and Dunleavy there

Dampier to Dallas is something this guy made up. End of story. Only teams still in running are Atlanta and Knicks. Memphis has no MLE (used on Brian Cardinal)and won't trade Swift. Indy used part of MLE (to re-sign Anthony Johnson) and won't trade Bender. NYK has whole MLE but is trying to do trade to get Damp one big long term contract. If not he can take MLE for 1 year and be a free agent again or take MLE for 2 years and NYK can offer him a new contract starting at $9.5 million. Atlanta is offering 6 year deal for $50 million. Damp does 2 contracts with NYK it would total at least $54. Sign and trade is more money (6 year deal for $65 million), plus would protect both NYK and Damp against the other not wanting to do the 2nd contract. His options are Atlanta or NYK.

no way is there only 2 teams in this race. Dallas can also do something like

Stackhouse to Charlotte for Drobnjak Charlotte has something like 7mm in trade exmptions they could swap to Dallas which could turn around and trade the Atlanta number + trade exmptions to GS for Dampier

these are just scenarios. also i think people are discounting the value of stackhouse. Stackhouse only has 2 years on his contract--is a reasonably good defensive player and just two years ago averaged 30 points a game.

The reason why I think Dallas is the frontrunner is because they have Stackhouse and that pick and that is WAYYYY more valuable than anything the Knicks can do. Do the players need to end up in GS? NO, but I believe they brought in Jason Terry to play along with Daniels Harris and Finley. Stackhouse is their trade piece for a C with that number 1 pick.

Aren't you the same poster who repeatedly declared that there was no chance Jamal Crawford would ever be a Knick?

Are you pals with Cuban? Where are you getting this stuff? When was the last time Damp and Dallas were mentioned together? I'll give you that anything is possible, but looking at this REALISTICALLY Dampier is going to Atlanta or New York. I've also heard rumors GS has no interest in trading Damp to a team in the West, but those rumors might be B.S. cuz Memphis had been trying to get him thru a trade and Grizz are in the West. Why are you so hung up on Damp in Dallas? Why do you think he's going there when there's NOTHING about him and the Mavs ANYWHERE?

Briggs....you are always tipping the facts in the favor of your arguement.

Stacks 30ppg season was 2000-2001...thats not 2 years ago.

Stack has 3 years left on his contract (according to HoopsHype)...not 2 as you state.

Why?
