Maybe I missed it but I didn't see anything from Phil in this article. I saw the author stating what he thought Phil was thinking. Another crap piece of journalism

After removing your hand from Melo's leg -- take a look at Phil's tweet posted.

There has never been a more spot on article ever written on the topic of Sir Melo Anthony.

Nothing from Phil is in the actual article. However, Phil send out a tweet pretty much agreeing with what the article is saying.

You have to consider that Melo may have already told Phil "F-U I'm not going anywhere" so in Phil's mind he has nothing to lose but to force this issue.

Me personally -- I love it --- there has NEVER been a more FUGAZY star than Carmello Anthony.

The GREATEST coach in NBA history has repeatedly tried to get thru to this guy to convince him how to play and after years now has simply thrown up his hands in disgust.

What a disgrace this player is -- he should be boo'd every second he steps on the garden floor.

The media after blasting Phil for his silence, now blast him for his tweet!

I'm holding back judgement until this all plays out- if it results in Phil moving melo for a good return he's a genius and well played, if we're stuck with Menlo after the deadline it's been a disasterous power play.

More likely he's trying to get melo to agree to a trade- good tactic if it works, but a big gamble. let's see what happens

I guarantee Phil now wants it to be irritant for Carmelo to play here so he will expand any "list" in the off-season. I dont see any trade happening now.

If Phil wants to play without Carmelo--he should simply say Melo--we want to see the last 30 games without you---please go rehab that shoulder.

Taking the game away from Melo would be one heckuva deterrent

I hate that Phil went out of his way to take a shot at Melo. I also agree with everything that the article stated. I want to see what Phil can do with a team that is not built around Melo. The moment I noticed that is was time for Melo to go was that game when Melo broke another play to call an ISO and throw up a bad shot over 2 defenders. There was a sideline camera angle where Jeff was also in frame near half court. Jeff put his hands on his head, turned his back and just walked to the bench before Melo made his move. Jeff will never say it but I think he gave up on Melo also.

Wow I have to say I loved that article
It sums up my own personal frustrations with Melo.

The hardest part is I like Melo. I think he is probably a much nicer person and teammate (off the court) than Kobe or Jordan ever were. But he simply has refused to see the light when it comes to his game.

From what I gather of Phil's article - he never thought Melo could win as the man it would change "his stripes". That means he may never have signed Melo to keep him. It was probably something to apppeade Dolans need to have an all star on the roster always.

I'm kind of in this boat. Also in subbing Defense for offense, and letting people ride pine if they provide effort on both ends. Even if he sucks at spacing and lost some speed, you have to show you're playing the right way as best as you can (not conserving energy); and if you don't do that, you ride pine and watch and learn from people who do. Under most normal trade circumstances, this might be true.

However, if leaning on Melo and hitting him in public gets him to expand his trade destination list and be less aggressive about demanding what goes back to the Knicks, I can't see how this hurts Phil Jackson. Also Jackson might not be long for the Knicks job, and his legacy is mostly in cement now in terms of his Bulls/Lakers tenure, he has nothing to lose.

Melo cares about "branding", he cares about his image. Clearly playing team basketball is not something he cares about. Playing defense is not something he cares about. But if he's getting hit hard in the open press, that might move him to waive his NTC more easily.

Also, this is a big time failure for Jackson, who has had nothing but mostly outrageous success in his NBA span, this ensures that Melo eats the entire meal in terms of how the blame is assigned in the future and perception in general.

NO ONE HIT MELO's REPUTATION. The guy refused to play team basketball, he refused to lead, he refused to play defense, he refused to develop his game outside of his massive natural talent. He hurt himself. He cared more about shoe deals and marketing deals than he did winning basketball games. The sad tragic part of it is if he focused on winning, all that extra stuff would come naturally as a matter of momentum and course.

No one is smearing Melo, if Melo wanted to be bullet proof to the press, then conduct yourself as a franchise player is expected to behave.

Smart GM 101 also said to give Noah money, trade for rose, and give a below avg 2 guard who is over 30 a 4yr deal.
