I thought this was a good discussion about the Melo trade possibilities...

Basically Lowe and Herring feel that the Clippers offer on the table is ridiculously too little to get in return for Melo. Though they do like Rivers and feel that trading Melo could get the Knicks up into the 4/5/6 slots in the lottery this year. (To me, I feel those two things alone are enough reason to trade Melo, it's also just time to hit the reset button and shift focus to a true rebuild)

Yeah, that's the side benefit to trading Melo before the deadline. But it's not enough to take table scraps for an elite player like Melo. For one thing, it's insulting. For another, it's terrible deal-making.

Our objectives should be youth and picks. LAC doesn't really have any picks, so a third team would be required.

I really hope Jax is looking at moving other pieces besides Melo. We can lose lots of games with just a couple of trades (i.e., Rose, Lee, BJ, KOQ) by depleting our scoring. We already know Melo can't do it by himself, or even him and KP.

I would really keep KOQ and CLee.

They're hard working players and the type of guys you look to add in FA anyway. To me it makes no sense to trade them this year. I would keep them around. Jennings, too.

We need SOME continuity and keep the guys who play hard and embody the type of team we want to eventually be.

We'll still lose plenty of games if we keep those guys. To me you keep:

KP (obv)
Willy
Kuz
Holiday
CLee
KOQ
Jennings

guys to play more minutes to see if they're worth keeping
Baker
Plumlee
N'Dour

I would certainly look to move DRose, if possible and Noah (though I doubt that is possible). And Melo. It'd be nice to get a pick or two for DRose and Melo

We have to give up something to get anything in return. KOQ might be a valuable piece for us, but he also creates a log jam, and stunts Willy's growth. I'm sure KOQ doesn't want to waste his prime years getting 5 mins a game, when he could really contribute more on a different team.

We'd lose plenty more if we traded them for cap space and/or picks. We might even be able to dump Noah in the process. The name of the game is to tank as aggressively as possible. Moving those guys, especially if we can't get good value for Melo, is imperative to producing the best possible outcome for a lost season.

I don't think KOQ is stunting anyone's growth - that is Noah, Coach & Phil.

But I agree - perhaps he helps with a deal.
