I think the way we're going, we are going to see Melo dealt to the Clips for Rivers and capspace, maybe some second round picks or a first as well.
We'll then re-sign Rose if he's willing to do a fourth year team option, something like $100M over 4 years (fourth year being a team option). With extra capspace we probably look to sign a wing to replace Melo's spot in the starting 5. Could see us
Next year (future age)
STARTERS:
Hernangomez 23
Porzingis 22
Tatum 19 (Lotto #10 or so)
Rivers 25
Rose 29
BENCH:
O'Quinn 26
Thomas 28
Kuz 28
Holiday 28
Lee 31
+A few other bench free agents
Plumlee and Baker back for camp to show they can make the roster.
Noah's trade bait but no one touches him so we keep him as our 3rd big, mainly as injury resere, great practice intensity player, mentoring etc.
I mean I can't see us do much else at this point. We're not getting an ELITE point guard TALENT where we will draft (10 or so). The top elite PG's all are drafted by 5 or 6. We won't be signing Chris Paul or Steph Curry in free agency, I'm sure we'll try.
I'm not saying this is my plan, but I see us doing that as it's realistic. I do think we'll play better in Horny's system next year having many of the players back knowing what they are supposed to be ready for. Additionally we'll play better in this style of play if the team is younger and fresher. Phil is an Austin Rivers fan. Rose is 29 next year. The average age of Rivers, Rose, Willy, KP and a lottery pick will be 23-23.5. It's the right direction longterm, even if we're getting screwed in a Melo return trade wise and unlikely to make the playoffs next year unless KP makes another jump.
