He would do wonders for KP and Willy. He's a great defender and even though he can't score, he's a good free throw shooter and playmaker obviously. Willy seeing more minutes can compensate for some of Rose's scoring. Plus KP will improve his scoring and efficiency with a real pg. Rubio is only 26 and has two years left on his deal so he's worth the gamble either at the trade deadline or in the offseason.

Rose's scoring dosen't need to be accounted for. He's a volume scorer.

Anyway I'm not too thrilled with the idea of Rubio. His injury history+ lack of shooting ability is quite worrisome. Would we be prepared to take him over the possible FA/draftees this coming summer?

Save the cap space for Jrue Holiday this summer. Rubio is a deeply flawed shooter but gifted passer, solid on D but can be physically overwhelmed.

If CP3 is a an absolute no, then yes I'd be more than happy with Rubio and drafting/signing a two way player in offseason.

I just think CP3, while older, would bring a certain intangible that would help, not only KP but, Melo and this team as a whole. Then you could draft a PG to sit and learn behind him.

I'd take Rubio if Thibs were willing to take Jennings, O'Quinn and Thomas for him. I believe contracts work there, although I could be wrong. It's quite a few players there, but we need a bench floor general that isn't erratic and Jennings has just lost favor with me,

Rubio could do the Baker role, only better. Sometimes start at 2 with Rose, or take over for Jennings.

I'd take him, but I wouldn't have any expectation for him to replace Rose. I'd get him to replace Jennings, and also to be a young player in his prime that can be part of the younger core of players like KP, Willy and Kuz.

A backcourt of Rubio and Lee would remind me of last season- would probably be the lowest scoring backcourt in the league, in an era where the backcourt is where most points are made. Rubio only makes sense next to a high scoring, good shooting SG.

Jrue holiday has the size to matchup with the big PGs....plus he's tall enough to play SG on both ends next to rose. Plus theres motivation to play with his brother.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

Holiday has had an injury riddled few years with the pelicans who also showed him a lot of love while his wife and baby were in danger.
Not sure what Pels would be willing to pay him or if they see him as their future.

Yeah, I've been thinking this for a while too. Trade one of our old vets on a big long-term deal for Rubio. He's on an OK contract. I don't think our management will make better use of the cap space and he actually would help the team.

Rubio isn't solid on d, he's an elite defensive guard, one of the best in the league. And i would prefer Holiday as well, but what makes you think he's leaving New Orleans? They will most likely offer him the max. I'm done relying on free agency.

The NBA changed to rules to favor perimeter players who can score..It would be such a Knick thing to do to trade for a PG who can't score..

How about a player whose passing helps his teammates score? Or is PPG the only stat that matters?

When does the onus go to the player to get in position to score...You can trade for 10 pass first PG if the player isn't rolling on a pick and roll or utilizing his advantage as a scorer then it can't it be on the rest of the world to make sure he scores...

It's SOOOOOOO obvious that this team desperately needs a passing PG!!! Trade LT and BJ for Rubio! He's a consistent floor leader who will enhance the talent we have. He would solve so many of the issues this team has with turnovers and bad decisions with the ball.

No he's not perfect but his contract is short and what he does best is sorely needed. This team should be performing better than it has and a legit floor leader is the main reason. He would immediately make the D stronger too!

I'm more than down with trading for Rubio and said this a some threads for the last couple of weeks. We have the scoring to get away without having Rose if that's who we have to use to trade for Rubio which i would think it would but we'd most likely have to add to our side of the deal since Rose is a free agent after this season. Rubio would instantly make our starting unit better with his passing and defense.
