These are talented players and we should be a much better team when you put these guys with Melo and KP and this is without even talking about all the young talent Phil got us.
Jennings was a value signing
Noah was an aging player with an extensive injury history. He signed with the Knicks because no one else would give him a four year deal at that AAV. It was a high risk move and likely to blow up on the team sooner than later.
Rose has an extensive injury history, carries a massive salary, had clear problems with his personality on his last team, has off the court problems, can't hit a three point shot, showed issues with defense in Chicago. It was a high risk move and likely to blow up in the teams face. Rose also cost the Knicks valuable assets
Lee has always been a useful piece but not a core piece you can build around on the wing. He came like Noah, because the Knicks paid him more and gave him a longer deal than anyone else.
Sure mouthpieces and people in Dolan's pocket or CAA's pocket will push positive press on these moves. But these were high risk moves with a low chance of long term gain for the Knicks.
Others discussed the drawbacks of these players, but many simply didn't want to listen.
If Rose, Noah and Lee were so valuable, other teams, teams that WIN CONSISTENTLY would have chased them. But thats why those teams win CONSISTENTLY, they didn't chase them.
Jennings was a good medium risk/high reward signing. That doesn't wash out the rest of the bad offseason in free agency.
