i understand the other players are super but isnt he a damn good player too?

He's a junior I think it is the main reason. So people feel he can't improve as much since he's already close to being physically matured

I agree he's very solid on the floor. I'm sort of hesitant to say it, but he seems like a Phil kind of player.

Tend to agree with you on this...but he is not top 7 worthy, is he?

He would be a major reach at where we now are.

based on his year of play and the other players in the draft i say top 12 to 15 but ive seen him on some mocks going in the 20's just wondered why a nice player who has shown improvement and led his team far would be so lightly thought of
he and the french pg would make two nice hauls IMO

I agree too. He is thought badly of because he is a junior so it's unlikely he has a lot of untapped potential and just began shooting well this year. However his skill set fits the triangle and he plays defense. He reminds me of Shane Battier but a better passer. However, Phil would have to get a late lottery pick to get him.

Would wonder about his ability as a defender in the NBA from the games I saw him play, but have not seen enough of him.

I'll bet he finds a place on a team in the league, but not as a starter...though who knows.

Yeah I don't see him as a instant starter in the league either. He would have to work his way into it, but he's shown the capacity to add to his game.

As for defense he was a key part defensively in stopping the run of that Fox , Monk led Kentucky team.

Realistically, if we don't move into the top 3, the only players I see us taking are: Isaac, Fox or Ntilikina.

Agree but they need to bring in Dennis Smith as well because he seems like he might be available-- I'd say 1 of those 4

Smith looks so athletic I worry if his body can sustain it- could easily see him tearing an ACL again. He does look amazing though, but I don't see Phil taking him, unfortunately

Reminds me more of Otto Potter because of his ability to pass as well.

I like the Porter comparison better. Battier was a little tougher physically and less athletic. Porter needed time to develop and I think Justin will also. Just from a physical standpoint, Porter might have had a bit of a headstart.

Interesting. I see he still doesn't quite have that Ball on a String tight handles but good to see him working. He looks a little bigger.

What do you have against Fultz? You've never really explained it, other than referring to a non-existant knee issue.

Isn't the coin tomorrow to determine who gets the #6 pick if neither us nor the Wolves land in the top 3? Anyone have any info on this? When? Where?

I'm just bracing myself for the inevitable loss of the coin toss.

The crucial coin flip is at 3 PM today to determine whether we get Frank or if we get Ntilikina.

Why do you suddenly like Ntilikina so much? He wasn't on your list before. I think he's a great prospect, but just wondering why your change. You said you can't draft a guy as skinny as him when you talked about needing big body players.

This goes to total trash after 5.

A player, I hope, the Knicks keep an eye on Xavier Rathan-Mayes from Florida St. Everyone is raving about J.Isaac, as they should, but XRM is a big time sleeper. Reminded me a lot of K.Irving.

Check out Wesley Iwundu for our second round pick. He's a top 5 in the mocked second round in assists, good size for a SG, decent defender, and a senior. All the stuff Phil likes when taking a flyer on the second round. Another good sign he struggled to shoot as a underclass man but improved it as he got older which means he's a "learner".

Draftexpress have him mocked one pick ahead of ours on Draftexpress..... I think he fits the Phil's "ideal roleplayers" better than anyone else mocked in the second round.

1. Fultz
2. Ball
3. Jackson
4. Fox
5. Tatum
6. Monk
7. Ntilikina
8. Smith
9. Isaac

As long as we are top 9, we are getting a really good player at a position of need.

YUP! IMO this is a good draft for quality players. It's going to be impossible to know for sure which players will exceed expectations but I many of these players should be good NBA Players.
