17-13 if you consider the loss to Phx where Rose went out very early. And it goes without saying, winless when we are missing one of them. So we are at least a 45 win team if these guys play 82 games together. That doesn't factor in continual improvements in chemistry. Obviously 82 games played together isn't realistic, but it tells me the problem is not any of these guys, it's everyone else. These guys are the stars, so they will need to improve things of course, but together, they are winning games. When one of them is missing, we have yet to have 1 player really step up on a consistent basis to fill some of that missing gap.

If we resign Rose, we won't have any cap space left, but we can find ways to improve. Holiday is probably a keeper, and can be resigned to a league average contract using his early-bird rights. Kuz, Willy, O'Quinn, and Baker are nice long-term pieces too. For our first round pick, if none of the elite prospects fall to the mid-1st round, i'll go with an NBA ready college player over a higher-potential prospect. Josh Hart, Dwayne Bacon, and Luke Kennard are 3 SGs who can all shoot, assume secondary playmaking responsibilities, and should be productive NBA players right away. If we choose to stick with Baker and a committee approach to backup PG, and let Jennings go, we will have the MLE to use on another quality rotation player. PJ Tucker is an obvious option, with the recent interest in him. Our defense would be much improved. If we come back with a better bench and a couple of guys who can step up when needed, we will be just fine.

What record do you think a typical .500 team has in games where all their key players are healthy? I'm going to guess close to .600. And if our 3 are older (Melo) or more injury prone (Rose) than most teams' key players, we're probably going to have to go well over .600 in games where they're healthy. Right now, they've been together in 31 out of 36 games but we'd be pretty fortunate if that percentage holds up for the rest of the season.

Is their record 17-11 if you count the two games that Melo was ejected and played under 15 minutes? If so that puts them just over .600. If you factor in a new coach, and ten new players I think that is pretty respectable.

I just saw this and had to post it in one of these threads.

The Knicks had lost 109 straight games when trailing by 13 or more points entering the 4th quarter....wow.

It's adequate but the goal is to have a good record overall, right? Not just a good record in a selective subset of games? Then obviously that 17-11 hasn't been good enough to compensate for the rest of the games.

They started 3-6. That's a direct result of figuring things out. They started to by game 10. Since then they are great when all 3 play. In the future, they won't need those 9 games to really get going.

Sure but the thread is about the record for this team when the big 3 play. 17-11 is pretty good and again this is a mostly new team. So while chemistry should be improved as the season continues, health and games missed may increase. If they can win at a slightly higher than .600 when all three are healthy and on the court this team should be in the playoffs.

I think its a positive start to the process. I like that we have a nice backside of the roster with upside. We have seen OQuinn take a huge step forward this year. Willy has so many skills and is simply a very good young player. Baker continues to show promise as a nice role player. When Lance Thomas is healthy you can see why earned the contract we gave him. Maybe doesnt have a sex stat sheet but makes plays. Kuz has promise. We have a #1 and some #2s for stashes. We have some cap options this offseason if we opt to change directions... the roster is clumsy right now with our best players both being 4's not very good at anything else among other things, but this is a good overall roster with upside and a team that isnt so top heavy there arent options.
