GA 25 points 9-21 shooting 5 blocks 2 steals 38 minutes
The greek freak is deserving of the hype, but as hyped as KP was last year, I think he's underrated this year becauae the Knicks have not been a great team. People may be equating the Knicks lack of wins with KP, but I tell you individually his impact is massive. He has his off games and he's not a superstar (top 5) player, but in the East, I would say KP is the best PF there right now. Love and him basically, but KP does more rim protection. Cleveland would trade Love for KP in a heartbeat. Get this kid on the all-star team he deserves it.
Oh and Melo, this is how you always need to play. Pass the ball. Don't hold it and do nothing but wait and take a contested tough shot. First look to move it. Read the defense. When we were overachieving at 22-22 last year, Melo was playing this way. Could it be that having Rose and Jennings has given Melo a sense he needs to just shoot and not be worried about passing?
I'd like us to learn some things from wins like these longterm. Guys like Noah for all his faults on offense, Lance Thomas, Ron Baker, Kyle O'Quinn and Courtney Lee, these are the sort of guys you want around KP and Melo. Phil has done great with figuring out some of these players. It's just too bad DRose has just not fit in. For whatever reason DRose came into this season with a shooting guard mindset. He has literally zero leadership or intangible qualities.
We'll be who we are until we get someone to do what Rose gets paid to do. However I'd love for Horny and Phil to just say F it and go with Baker and Jennings moving forward. Sell Rose for a pick. There has to be some teams out there who need a great driver who can score with ease off the bench. I'd suggest using Rose off the bench, but there's no way I see him accepting that role on a sub .500 team. Trade him to a contender, he would. So that's who you look to deal him to, to get some future assets.
GA has really worked on his shot, and that fall away midrange J is impossible to block. You get the feeling that he is being "groomed" by the NBA- he's already getting those star calls (though that play at the end when KOQ stopped him could have been called a foul)
