It is time the Knicks pull a Celtic and accelerate the obvious - we are not competing with the current roster of aging, no-defense players, and need to reboot around KP6. We have a GM and a coach who stand up to players who aren't playing the way they must, and it's time to engineer one or multiple swaps to trade our crap for jewels. This includes Melo, Rose, Noah, and maybe a few others. Turn up the heat on Melo, start by trading away the other vets, and then he'll ask for an exit.

Who can we heist? Are there any Billy King's out there (or Isaiah Thomas's)? Or perhaps even the Celtics themselves - grab the 2017 Nets pick + some others...and repeat after me: "with the second selection in the 2017 draft, the NY Knicks select Lonzo Ball, Point Guard, UCLA".

Ainge and more importantly their owner really did what Hinkie had tried to do but with less downside. Most importantly they were content to hire a coach AND GROOM HIM for the long term and set upon building a culture.
With that the key has been patience and providing an environment where Thomas and Crowder were able to blossom!!!

Crowder is playing on an insanely friendly contract and thomas cost them relatively nothing.

THis is a very good model and sort of what GSW did very very well!!!!

One tiny aspect you're overlooking, Garnett, Pierce and Terry had championship pedigrees. The Nets thought they had a window to win big so they went for it on the logic that adding championship players would get them over the hump. Unfortunately for them they got burned. Melo, Rose, Jennings, Noah, etc. do not have that type of pedigree so thinking we could duplicate what Boston did is not realistic.

Also, celtics had no way to know the 2017 pick would be this high. The assumption was Nets would be old for a few years, but at least competitive.
Nets had Gerald Wallace as "The glue guy" and of course the pick they used to obtain him was Lillard!!!

Everything the nets did went wrong. As Briggs has often said "at least protect those picks!!!!!"
All in all, from a buisness stand point I thought it took balls to do what the Nets attempted along with Billy King's decisiveness. On paper that team was really quite good!!!!
Looked like Prohkorov wanted to move the team and then sell it for great profit with a championship and the love of the city! Arrogant for sure!!!!
