Im not big on the analytic side but common sense tells me that we should acquire players that

Shoot a high/and or good solid# % from the field and from 3. Guys who can DRIBBLE an make plays--handle is important
I want guys who both PASS rebound and play D--not in just 1 game--but in their stats end of year--their play MUST be unselfish
They must be net positive defenders. I do not think Phil took too much on the D making our main players D Rose and Carmelo---wrong wont work
45%+ from 2 38% from 3 good assists and rebounding numbers winning team /environment hopefully and age under 27.

We also need a guy who can clog the middle and get a nice interior shot if we need it. I mean a real lane stuffer where the guards can really get out on the 3 point line and funnel stuff to the middle---you wont find that for 48 minutes but 16-18-20 minutes you should. and if not we can find players who simply play faster so they can play tighter D.

Shooting is the main thing. Any player you are putting next to a guy like Porzingis, in today's NBA, needs to be able to shoot. Otherwise, they hinder the matchup problems a guy like KP can create. Obviously there is a lot more that goes into it, but quality outside shooting should be the first requirement for someone we are adding to the rotation.

I would like to get Valentine from Bulls. He would be an ideal fit next to Rose.

I like him as well and he doesn't play much there.

This is why I am OK with Lee's contract

You're right we need more efficient shooters but 45% from 2 point range is terrible. Even the worst 2 point shooting team in the league is at 46% and the good teams are in the 50s.

Your answer is incomplete. Yes, you need to be able to shoot - but - you need to be able to do something else too. Preferably, need to do everything. No one trick ponies.

so in other words players that are hard to find.

I highlighted the other part, which is saying what you are saying. We don't need 1 trick ponies, we need guys that can do more, but shooting should be viewed as a prerequisite is all i am saying.

Good players who are complete players can be found all of the time. Look at Brogdon from milwaukee. He is a rookie, second round pick. Yet he is a relatively complete player who fits almost perfectly as a combo guard next to a guy like the Greek Freak. We need to identify these guys who can fit with KP. They are out there and available.

Don't know his numbers, but Im watching Euroleague ball on NBATV, and Mike James is showing a nice two way game at point for Panathinaikos. Might be a less expensive alternative to Jennings off the bench, if he continues to be inconsistent. Only 26.
