With all the untimely deaths of cultural stars this year it's tough to see Carrie Fisher pass away as well. This year has been a HORRIBLE year in many ways and this just piles on at this point. Hoping 2017 can be a turnaround from this horror show. RIP Carrie Fisher.

This year we lost so many talented and influential people who had an impact on society and IMO the Trump presidency is the rotten cherry on top for me.

in terms of who people wanted to win everyone has a right to their opinion and i would never question it. I meant the media coverage of the campaign was nothing like i ever saw before....it was crazy and ugly at times and funny at times lol

rip
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

yeah the age is definitely alarming and you can add George Michael from WHAM to the list.

The crazy part is that a recent study shows people are living much longer than in the 60's and 70's, not sure what happen this yr

RIP Carrie - may the force be with you, always.

I changed my entire diet and I exercise vigorously 5 days out of the week. Dropped most of the Carbs I was eating and almost no sugary drinks. I've lost a good deal of weight in just a few months. Muscle tone is back and I feel a lot better. I stay stress free as opposed to the high stress life I was leading. It's about all you can do. Being 51 it's tough seeing people around my age dying like this.

We lost 2/3rds of Emerson, Lake and Palmer!

Greg Lake and Keith Emerson. This was one of the most important bands for me growing up and was super fortunate to have seen them 3 times.
Progressive Rock is not for everyone but this band was prolific for about 6 years in an era when bands worked non stop having released 7 albums in 7 years, and touring mostly non stop.
They sold about 50 million albums.

From 1970 self titled album: "Emerson, Lake and Palmer"
Lucky Man, BTW, amazing ending!!!

Hoe down, This song blew my mind as a kid!

David Bowie hit me hard too. His album "Blackstar" released seemingly days before his death was a great last present. Bowie had an amazing career. Not everything he did worked, but when it did it was amazing!

Long list of those departed. Is it that there was so many, or we just in an era where we read about most of them?

It's a big deal!!! You may not feel it but a LOT of people are bummed out and fearful about Trump. So on top of the losses of so many Iconic people it doesn't help that Trump is Leader of the Free World!!! Let that sink in for a minute... Trump is not representative of the BEST this country has to offer. He's in complete opposition to the inspirational people we lost and thus his being mentioned as an additional negative aspect of this year!

Gwen Ifill's death blew me away...I'm still blown away.. I have been watching PBSNewshour for years now and never really paid too much attention to her..I really like Judy Woodruff and her professional presentations, I thought CNN messed up by letting her go because of age..Then one day they announced Judy's sidekick died..It was a real unexpected blow..Out of nowhere...Just like that..I was watching them one day, Gwen was out a few days and then the announcement that one of the team is gone...I took it for granted that I'm tuning in for news and now Gwen is gone...Who ever thought I would care..But I do...
