Knicks popular again

The introductions are nearly complete, so Isiah Thomas can start mapping out the immediate future.

He's got the schedule in hand for the 2004-05 season. It was released yesterday by the NBA, and his reshuffled Knicks tip off Nov. 3 in Minnesota against former teammate Latrell Sprewell. Training camp gets under way Oct. 5 in Charleston, S.C.

Despite three straight losing seasons, the Knicks appear to be regaining a measure of popularity. They rarely made national television appearances before the makeover but have been penciled in to appear nine times on ABC, TNT and ESPN this time around.

The home schedule includes a Dec. 15 visit from the defending champion Pistons, who are slated to play just three games against the Knicks because of the new league alignment. Shaquille O'Neal and Miami come in for Feb. 9 and March 15 visits. The rebuilding Lakers show up on Feb. 28. And just in case Tim Thomas and Kenyon Martin want to bump heads some more, the Nuggets pay a Dec. 12 call to Madison Square Garden.

A total of 21 back-to-back sets are included, and the Knicks will play four games in five nights on four occasions.

It's possible they're counting some games twice. If you play on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, that could be viewed as two sets of back to back games. (Monday and Tuesday plus Tuesday and Wednesday)
Otherwise, it sounds ridiculous that the majority of our games are back to back games. That seems like an unfair disadvantage to put any team at.

I Hope so, Bonn...but even if they did count games like that twice (Obviously those 4 games in 5 nights include back to backs)...but is there a difference if you have a back to back on Wed-Thurs then like a Mon-Tues, as opposed to a 3 games set on a Wed-Thurs-Fri. Regardless, it still sounds like an awful lot. Just for arguments sake say they counted 10 games twice (as in the 3 games in a row), that still leaves 10 or 11 back to back sets...which can be about normal, but still...now we're talking like a total of like 30 games in consecutive sets...that's alot....
