Bone bruise in his ankle and plantar fasciitis in both feet. Yikes- looks like he'll be limited all season.

Lance Thomas has struggled early to live up to the $27 million deal he signed over the summer, providing neither the defense nor offense that was expected from the Knicks reserve forward.

But there's a reason, as the Brooklyn native explained to the Daily News while sitting in front of his locker with a walking boot: in addition to the bone bruise in his left ankle that kept him out of Monday's game against the Mavericks, Thomas has been suffering from plantar fasciitis in both feet all season.

"It's been hard to move at the speed that I'm used to and the speed that my teammates are used to me moving, especially defensively," Thomas said.

Thomas' suffered the bone bruise in a loss to the Rockets on Nov. 2, but played three games while clearly limited. The 28-year-old, who was signed on a four-year deal to be a defensive presence off the bench, played just nine scoreless minutes in Saturday's loss to the Raptors.

is there a dr in the house? Can plantar fasciatis be fixed? IIRC correctly that's what eventually slowed Pippen down

next man up: holiday, ndour, cheese

Not easily, and NBA and MLB are the worst sports as it really requires significant amounts of rest and rehab. Its inflammation and comes back very easily.

He's stunk all year... put him on the shelf for 4 weeks

Usually lasts all season, and apparently feels like you're walking on knives. Remember Camby had it back in the 90s for one season, then didn't get it again until he returned here a few years ago.

well that stinks. he seems like an honorable dude and would run on knives if the team asked

but they should shut him down. we can use him (when healthy)

Plantar is brutal, and it does take a good long while to completely heal. You normally need alot of rest, I've gotten cortizone shots, and some really good ortho inserts.

Wow, i'm almost sort of glad this wasn't just a case of I got paid; although it truly does suck he's hurt. He was supposed to be the true vet anchor for the bench.

After Melo and KP, apparently.

I have had it, it sucks.
I played tennis thru it and it just goes away. But I don't play every day, nor even close to doing what a pro athlete does.

I've had it too. He needs to find the right shoe and definitely orthotics. Icing and stretching will help a lot plus cortisone shots.

I would rest Lance until the all star break. If the team can get going and put together a playoff run, a healthy and rested LT would be a great bonus in the second half of the season.

You know that's not a bad thought. With LT out and if N'Dour and Kuz continue to play so-so with neither playing well enough to seize the backup 3 spot, let Holiday get those backup 3 minutes (Holiday's 6'6" and long--he can play some 3) and Baker see the backup 2 minutes. I wouldn't mind seeing that. We actually might be at our best there. Holiday's really starting to distinguish himself and show his worth and Baker can play.

Plantar is a stress reaction. Problem is we walk on two legs not 4 ....

When i had it in was over weight... as sin as I lost the weight the stress was relieved. Lance does look a little heavy. It doesn't have to be fat. A little extra muscle could be too much on the feet.

Also he might have over trained in the summer. Trying to prove he deserved the contract by doing too much to be in top shape. All of the things I mentioned could trigger plantar as well as the bone bruise in his ankle.

He's got to simplify his training. Do basic everyday man gym training... hit the elliptical for a while... maybe lose 5-10lbs. Any way you look at it he shouldn't come back till around Christmas.
